Romain Vincelot (2 Viewers)

An excellent article in today's Times about Romain Vincelot. He sounds like a well rounded person and obviously a good honest pro. Just one small piece about us but very telling:-

"His odyssey took him to Gillingham, then Leyton Orient, and Coventry in 2015. “I felt maybe it is time for Coventry to rise up and we nearly did but there was lack of investment. They [owners SISU] don’t look bothered by the club.”
He was, though, inspired by Joe Cole, the veteran of 56 England appearances who was a playing colleague at Coventry. “He was so humble. I couldn’t believe the guy I was speaking to, a genuine lad, accepting banter, had won so many titles. Joe Cole’s a great example we should all follow.”

From this it looks like everyone in the game knows Coventry City are a basket case. Mowbray's appointment changed the perception but then SISU ripped the carpet from under his feet. No wonder we cannot retain or recruit decent players.
Makes me think maybe SISU's mysterious investors are Villa fans or worse Sunderland fans still harbouring a
grudge after Jimmy Hill got the Bristol game delayed by 15 minutes.

All this preempting what people are going to say is boring mate and ruins threads before they've even got going.

Just pointing out, here we have a first hand account from a player who has recently left, about behind the scenes. Yet some will still dismiss this piece of "evidence".

Must admit to having been shocked last few days by the number of people I've talked to who I was sure would be going tomorrow but aren't. Not nopm or anything like that but they just seem to be saying we have owners who don't care, the football is dire and there's no sign of things improving so what's the point.

Vincelot knows nothing anyway!*

I don't think we need evidence to back up that SISU don't care about CCFC! Would have been interesting to know what happened with his move though.

*For ccfc92's desperation, he was trying his best! Just the 3 posts.

Clearly, as he worked for the club he could see the writing was on the wall... I think Mowbray pretty much alluded to that.

Oh Romain, you are sadly missed. His sale just adds to a long, long list of utterly absurd decisions made by CCFC.

Depressing stuff

Be honest though if this story had been in the CT not the times you'd be spitting feathers. You certainly have for less.

That story was a quality article on an eccentric individual who just happened to have played for us. No clickbait, no sensationalism, no agenda. It would have taken less time for a 100 monkeys with typewriters to produce it than the CT coming up with something like that off their own initiative. It's a ridiculous comparison.

For me, his departure was the first sign that we were slashing the books again, confirmed also by the loss of fleck. Seemed to be around the time when Fisher said the club had cocked up in its financial forecasts.

Yep within minutes of his departure I put a couple of pennies on us for the drop.
