Two months away? King outEsse is March ready.
Esse was starting every week for Millwall before his move to PalaceOh this is classic forum gold!!!
Anyone not blowing smoke up his arse is negative now???
You dont want to read the Brum match thread mate, you'd be suicidal.
Im sure Carsley rates a lot of players, so what?
Bellamy rates Kai Andrews and gave him a full cap, but that doesn't mean hes ready for a regular championship start.
There's not a lot to make you happy if you wouldn't be happy with the signing of Esse. Gets time with a mid table Prem side. Young and fast. They paid nearly 15m for him and are strong in his positions.Esse hasn't started any game since last season!!!
There's zero logic in what your saying.
The fact is both would probably start on the bench when available.
He's been playing for their u21s so will be fit, it's not like he's been sat doing nothingEsse hasn't started any game since last season!!!

Even getting in just an average championship winger would be a benefit to us to enable rotation while maintaining the formation.
And given he is still only 20 there is the potential for rapid improvement there.
There is basically no downside to this signing, it's exactly what we need.
It’s only anecdotal based on what I’ve watched but it’s felt like we’ve barely moved the ball down the right for the past few home games. Seems like the midfield and defence just look for EMC every time.
Another plus. We need players who can hit the ground running, everything points to Esse having a good chance of doing that. It's why I'm skeptical of the Manneh rumours.Best thing is Joe Edwards knows him and has managed him.
Cant remember the last time they passed to each other or worked down the corner. Its very oddThe Tats x MVE link up was our biggest attacking weapon not so long ago. Seems like both are a complete shell of the players there were in recent history.

Their left back got booked at the weekend.Cant remember the last time they passed to each other or worked down the corner. Its very odd

He's coming to the right place then. We have many that would join in with celebrating any goals against us in the future.Palace played Millwall in the FA Cup right after they signed him, despite the fact they hate each other - Esse got a full standing ovation at the end from the Millwall fans, shows how high they rated him that he signed for a rival and they still did that
I don’t think opposition tactics would matter if we still had the same energy in performances to be fair.I think what's happening is that we are often just too slow moving it forwards, which leaves us more likely to play a high ball where realistically EMC is the only wide option. Some of it is probably down to the opposition getting wiser to how we were playing as much as any regression on our part.
Both Tats and Wagner went off soon afterwards. Rudoni did a few bits, but nothing of now that I remember.Their left back got booked at the weekend.
Did we do anything down that side again?
The options off the bench have been abysmal recently. Esse will get us off our seats just give him time. Just hope he doesnt try too much like Rudoni.Esse was starting every week for Millwall before his move to Palace

100% - I also don’t think Sakamoto is a top end championship winger. It’s been my unpopular opinion for a while now.Saka hasn't had a goal contribution since November 22. If we had any sort of depth he would've been benched weeks ago.
Sakamoto is good enough to be in a top end squad but shouldn't really be essentially playing every minute when we are using wingers.100% - I also don’t think Sakamoto is a top end championship winger. It’s been my unpopular opinion for a while now.
Hes a good player, but you’ll get a 2-4 game streak where he’s one of the best players on the pitch… then basically no output for 8-10 games.
The only players who like scoring for us atm are Simms, Eccles and EMC and that needs to be addressed quickly. Rudoni, Wright, Sakamoto and even Torp haven’t looked like scoring for a while now.
Top end squad player, absolutely. My ideal role for Sakamoto is to come off the bench, inject energy for last 20-30 minutes and get good crosses in the box if we’re chasing a late goal, for example.Sakamoto is good enough to be in a top end squad but shouldn't really be essentially playing every minute when we are using wingers.
Our lack of depth out wide has been a problem since 2023. You can almost pinpoint our fall off in the league in 23/24 to Sakamoto getting injured. Esse should be a huge boost in that regard - no more switching to 5 at the back or shoehorning Rudoni out wide when Saka isn't playing.

Wrexham game, he was the best player for us, the assist for EMC and his goal were top class but he’s basically done nothing since.
We’re more than happy to criticise strikers when we’re not scoring but it’s a wider effort and in the modern game the goal scoring is nearly just as high for wingers and AMs than strikers.
Here’s a stat: Both Kitching and Thomas have had more shots than Sakamoto. There’s only 3 outfield players who have shot less than him: MVE, Grimes and JDS with comparable minutes played.
Easiest charity bet made @fatso
He scores v low xG chances and ironically, misses the higher xG chances he gets. His conversion rate must be ridiculous?
Looks like EMC has started shooting from outside the box which to me doesn’t look like his forte, but clearly he’s done some work on it and backs himself. He scores v low xG chances and ironically, misses the higher xG chances he gets.
23 shots, 4 goals = 17.4% conversion rate. Which is good, but quite meaningless if you’re literally never going to shoot.
EMC has just shy of double the shots and part of the reason that is, in my view, is that EMC actually gets past defenders to have a shot… Sakamoto rarely does. EMC successful dribbles is now 52% compared to Sakamoto’s 40% and this was flipped earlier on in the season. EMC also attempts far more dribbles than Sakamoto too.
RW is a weakness in our attacking setup atm, Rudoni overloads far more on the right to support that. It’s a tactical tweak to mask a deficiency imo.
He’s really stepped up in recent weeks, he’s by far our most potent attacking threat atm. Simms is doing a good job of converting chances but we all know he’s pretty useless in build up play.Looks like EMC has started shooting from outside the box which to me doesn’t look like his forte, but clearly he’s done some work on it and backs himself.

Might need some more work on his shooting from distance as nearly all of his goals for us have been poachers’ efforts, but I agree he has really improved this season. He’s really stepped up in recent weeks, he’s by far our most potent attacking threat atm. I’d like to see EMC score a few of those opportunities where he cuts in and shoots. He gets the space to pull the trigger a lot because he powers through defenders.
That was a different match iirc, one I was referring to was an FA Cup tie last JanTo be fair they also sang “what a waste of money” and “Bangura-Williams, he’s better than you”
1 thing that Saka has missing is pace so he has to keep dragging it back and forth to try and beat his manI am also a bit skeptical about his stats to date, but he is young and has a lot of promise. He is talked about very highly so it could be a smart signing. The other thing to consider is that Sakamoto, in my opinion, has looked poor for a couple of months. Having some competition to push him is a good thing regardless.
