You can’t force players to take a jab but you could reduce their package. I’m sure this will feature in new contracts going forward.

the truth is players that are not vaccinated are less valuable as they come with more risk of Covid impacting their bodies in the short and medium term.

if we truly do have a dressing room split due to vaccination views then it reflects poorly on Robins and Boddy.

Klopp has led from the front on this as has Ralph and surprise surprise 98% of their players are vaccinated ….

Why would it reflect badly on them when it’s just peoples points of view? The team spirit’s seemed ok whilst vaccinations have been around

Doing my best impression of a CT headline writer there

Just watched Robins interview from last night and he looks seriously pissed off. Someone mentioned before he said there was a “split in the camp” and it’s probably about who was isolating but watching it that’s not what comes across. He’s talking about how players got to spend time with their family which is important because there’s a split in the camp, which makes it sound like it’s something else.

Any of the ITKs shed any light? @Skybluebeliever
@better days

Anyone not ITK fancy making up outlandish rumours?

One poster on here legitimately had a heart attack after his first jab and was advised by a doctor to not have another one, but there were posters on here trying to change his mind.

Klopp has also made himself look like a right bellend by coming out and saying the vaccine should be mandatory. It is about as effective as Tony Blair calling people idiots for not having it. It does absolutely nothing to encourage those that haven´t had it to go down the clinic and get a jab.

If the views of some scientists (about 3/4 way down the guardian article come to fruition there could come a time in the not too distant future that people (players) go about their daily lives even if they have covid. It's perhaps a little optimistic from where we are now but given the seemingly weaker variant, high levels of vaccine and infection we have had in the UK we might be able to consider this before some other countries in Europe.

Omicron is ‘not the same disease’ as earlier Covid waves, says UK scientist

Sir John Bell says disease ‘appears less severe’ as other scientists criticise lack of new restrictions in England
www.theguardian.com

With regards to contracts it will be easy for the club's to mandate vaccination if they can prove it is an unacceptable disruption to the needs of the business for players not to be vaccinated. Unless isolation rules change this should be fairly straightforward.
The issue clubs have is they would only be able to terminate the contract and at that point you would be allowing an asset to walk away for free and join another club as a free agent. Going forwards if a club wanted to they could configure new contracts and would be able to stipulate vaccine status as a condition of joining.

Every other approach has been tried. The reasons for not getting it are easily debunked and usually grounded in nonsense.

What else is left aside from calling a moron a moron?

What‘s so nonsensical about a player not wanting to have it because of a risk of heart problems?

The risk is less than minuscule. Getting Covid however does actually carry a greater health risk-speak to Joshua Kimmich

We aren’t talking about something that’s subjective or open to debate. This isn’t-the facts on vaccine safety and efficacy are unambiguous and in the public domain

For the avoidance of doubt a monster study comparing myocarditis risks after vaccination and after getting COVID was published in Nature this month

Risks of myocarditis, pericarditis, and cardiac arrhythmias associated with COVID-19 vaccination or SARS-CoV-2 infection - Nature Medicine

A self-controlled case series using individual-patient-level data from over 38 million people aged 16 years and over, reveals an increased risk of myocarditis within a week of receiving a first dose of ChAdOx1, BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines, which was further increased after a second dose of...

)

The highest occurrence for vaccines was 6 cases for every 1 million jabbed, compared to 40 in every 1 million infected.

Nah I will - you are confusing facts

Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Have you seen anything? Anecdotally ive been told very few people catch it again and Boris self isolating even though he had it bad!! Confused Nothing. It’s weird because it seems like vital info but I never see it mentioned. Maybe variants change everything? I am not a virologist.

He literally says there that his cardiologist advised him not to have the same jab as he had before. That would suggest some concern from a medical expert wouldn´t it?

I know everyone unvaccinated to you should be thrown to the leper colony, but you´ve shot yourself in the foot by linking that post there.

He’s been exceptionally unlucky for it to happen as data from the huge number of jabs administered shows. I get why he personally wouldn’t want another dose but compared to getting Covid itself, which would lead to a similar if not stronger reaction, the risks are clearly much lower for the vaccinated.

As I have said previously, the risk is very low, but it is still a risk.

Equally, the risk of Covid to most people is also very low.

I can see why young and healthy people decide not to bother with the vaccine and take their chances. If it was the black plague or Ebola then I think your argument would be untouchable, but for Covid I am not sure I agree.

Let´s wait and see what he says, but if there was no worry, why tell him to take another one? You are so desperate to ´get one over´ on people that haven´t had the jab, your arguments have become piss poor and desperate.

Nick is talking about vans on another thread, why don´t you pop on over there. Or have Hertz suspended your account with them?

No, not equally. The risk is higher for covid than the vaccine. If you’re concerned about heart issues the data say get vaccinated.

Look at the data. Yes the risk is only higher in the under 40s.

That risk jumps up to a maximum of 6 cases in a million. For being infected it’s 40. There were around 30 million people featured in the study.

It’s not up for debate, not even close.
