Robin’s Take On The Game (14 Viewers)

How about “ Coventry are top for a reason. They are a very good side with some very good players. For long periods I thought we matched them and if anything had the best chance of the match but that’s football and we will recharge over the international break and look to kick on again.”

You don’t have to criticise your own team to give credit to the opposition.

We have never had so much praise as we are having at the moment from the football community. It would not have looked at all odd if Mark had been another of those voices.

For those of you that can’t bare the idea that Mark might be a little bit in the wrong can I suggest you remind yourself of his usual post match comments when he was our manager …

We would hear most matches “ these are a top top side by the way “ “ xxx had done a fabulous job at this club” “ they have a team full of power that can really hurt you “

We would hear comments like this week in week out for years. Yet yesterday and he couldn’t find it in him to do it …..

I think he's still hurting that Doug King sacked him, at the time Doug King did the right thing.

King was getting dogs abuse at the time though, people saying he wanted Robins out, hadn’t supported him etc. I can understand why he wanted to get some of the stuff out there and by doing so it probably helped to settle things down a bit quicker, took a bit of pressure off Lampard. Agree that it was unfair that Robins couldn’t respond but sounds like the Adi/Robins stuff was true.
But that's what you have to put up with if you want to be a prominent figure or owner. I'm sure MR/AV etc are subject to NDA's as part of their payoff, so I'm surprised King thought he could come out and reveal things that the people involved legally can't.

Even if they're true it's poor form and a surefire way to have people lose trust in you, thinking you might throw them under the bus the second you come under a modicum of criticism. Just feels really thin skinned.

I didn't expect us to arrive back at 'Robins didn't deserve to be fired' while we're playing the best football I've seen in my life and top of the league. But here we are.

No more weird than people who wanted him out almost from the get go and continuously through out his time here though.
As a consequence they can't bring themselves to acknowledge or praise the man for what he did for us

We're a bunch of fannys getting upset over his interview. They did have the best chance, we did cancel each other out. It was heading for a draw until a moment of magic which what teams looking for promotion do.

He is the manager of a different club, what did you expect him to say?

Obviously being at the game gives you a better insight. However having just watched the full replay, Stoke actually were quite dangerous and gosh so much of our play/threats do come from throw in's! I still thought Coventry looked the better side overall and we had some star performers in EMC, Bobby, JDS and Matty. There wasn't much between the sides though and I can understand Mark's viewpoint on the game.

Well, one person fits the bill for that latter category and he’s been conspicuous by his absence.

He was great and I didn't want him out from the get go, I wanted him to complete the journey. I am a Coventry fan though, not a Robins fan and unlike most who wanted to blame literally everything else, I could see he'd lost it and needed moving on. I can accept the emotion some had and most had finally accepted it was correct, to still be claiming now that the firing was unjust is just a bit strange.

I think by the end your were the most emotional person on here about how much you wanted him gone tbh.

I just had to argue against a lot of people who didn't agree so had to repeat myself a lot. King got the decision and the replacement bang on.

I think Kings been proven right for the club you can’t argue with that. I think people arguing Robins was/is a bad manager are fucking morons though.

Not many people have said that, his time here was clearly up though.

Several of the posters who've put the boot in on him on this thread haven't contributed to any of the other threads about Saturdays game.

1 made 1 post in the match thread and that was to mention Robins interview, I'd say that's strange!

Given one of them is the biggest King cuck on here you'd think he'd be grateful to Robins because without him his crush wouldn't be here.

I’m not going to argue about underlying numbers or how you and others were convinced we’d get relegated and to expect Lampard to finish top six was ridiculous again. But what’s done is done everyone’s moved on and some of the vitriol and blatant just lies he gets winds me up (not from you).

OK yeh fair enough, I'm just commenting from my point of view. As you know I'm active on most threads, some may say too many!

I don't think I said we'd get relegated. My main line was I didn't think the players were as bad as some were making out and I thought another manager (assume correctly chosen manager) could get more from them. That was it really. I also noted that people were starting to get really fed up going to home games which becomes a huge problem for the business. The turn around in home form particularly (we've still only lost to last seasons top 2) given Robins had lost to Swansea, Wednesday and Derby with the season only 5 minutes old was remarkable.
It is however old ground, we're all ccfc fans and I know we'll all be going bananas (possibly crying) if Frank takes us up so maybe best to end it there. Being faced with Robins pretty quickly has obviously triggered some old debates, Stoke aren't a particularly likeable club either which doesn't help.

I don't think anything Robins said was particularly damming towards us. He'd just been beaten by a late goal so a bit of sour grapes doesn't go a miss by a losing manager. I wouldn't expect him to be gushing about our brilliance. We do like to get the ball forward quickly, we do like a long throw and corner. I don't think he said anything wrong or untrue.
