Opta currently has us with a 77% chance of winning the title and 89% chance of promotion overall.

Boro next most likely with 7%/30% then Ipswich 4%/17%. Stoke are 2%/11% and all other clubs have less than 2% title chance and 10% promotion chances.

Aside from yourselves i think the inconsistency of the teams in the play offs is playing right into the hands of Ipswich and Southampton and maybe even Leicester. All three had poor starts but are unbeaten in the last three.

9 points separates second to 16th. One of Southampton or Ipswich takes second behind you for me, with the other falling into the play offs. Other than that its open as hell

Nah. Let’s both fend off the parachute wankers from the top 2.

I agree that the relegated teams will finish in the playoffs.

The underlying data suggests they should in around automatics even at this stage. We have both Ipswich and Southampton away in December so those two results for me will give a strong indication of whether or not we’ll go up automatically.

Tomorrow will be a difficult fam but with Edwards leaving, it’s a game we should be winning.

Now Southampton have had a change of manager I think they will have a surge up the table. Their team is class! If we go up and they don’t there’s a couple in that team I wouldn’t mind pinching

Inept as Charlton were that first half by Southampton is a must watch. No exageration they could have had 9/10.

Southampton have left themselves a mountain to climb. Their Xg always suggested a huge turn around and underperformance.

Im actually tempted to put on Adam Armstring to be top goalscorer..think he will be top scorer in the league by about 10 goals

My predicted table.

1)Cov
2)Ipswich/Birmingham/Southampton

Almighty scramble for play offs the kind we havnt seen before.
It is really strange. Armstrong was brilliant when Southampton went up. Not good enough in the Prem, awful on loan at West Brom but finding his form again in the Championship. They tried to sell him in the Summer.

Who are they? Not getting carried away but stats suggest we are a real contender for an automatic spot. So who are we up against?

For me there obviously loads of teams in playoff contention but not many you wold expect to be fighting for top 2. Normally 3-4 max in that race.

Obviously we can only go on 9 games so far but for me:

Boro - top 2 contender
Leicester top 2 contender
Preston playoffs max
Stoke top 2 contender
QPR great run but I think playoffs only
West brom good team but playoffs
Birmingham playoffs max
Wrexham playoffs max
Swansea playoffs max
Sheff utd autos gone. Big run maybe playoffs
Southampton top 2 contebder
Ipswich top 2 contender
Millwall playoffs max
Watford playoffs max
Bristol city playoffs max despite good few years

So that leaves us with

Cov
Boro
Stoke
Leicester
Ipswich
Southampton

As top 2 contenders in my humble opinion.

Leicester possible points decision and reliance on wingers?

Ipswich and soton started slow and if we keep winning it puts pressure on them to break out on a run sooner rather than later

Stoke Boro are outsiders(like us) but I think we look better than them

I'm not saying we will definitely win the league but......we have a chance and I'm sorry but I can't stop thinking about it.
Come back 31st Jan and pose the same question it’s far too early

There is little or doubt.

Top 4 will be

Cov
Ipswich
Birmingham
Soton

These are all the teams with best underlying attacking stats.

And no doubt (i havnt checked) bookies will back it up.

Stoje /preston/hull finish 8th /9th/10th

Likely swap places as Ipswich/soton/ brum replace them in top 6.

I was thinking about this earlier. I really wouldnt mind him back here if we sold Haji ( I know his wages would be a no go). Then again, that would only be a January deal. If we go up, I'd want a younger prospect.

I wouldn’t have minded snapping him up. Can see him having the ability to play AM, ST, CF, RW

We are pretty much already nailed on for play offs half way there. With 30 games to play.

We have pretty much done alot of the hard yards. We just have to be good for rest of season and not outstanding to finosh top 2.

2 more wins and we are half way to a points tally which will achieve autos. The quicker we get these the better.

1st Coventry WON 40pts
------------------------------------
2nd Stoke WON 30pts
_____________________________
Middlesbrough LOST 30pts
Ipswich WON 27 pts
Southampton WON 24 pts
Leicester LOST 24pts

10pt gap to second
10pt gap to 3rd

2/5 lost including the team closest to us in a 6 pointer. Take that

Ipswich and Southampton are coming on strong but we have a big points buffer and still in amazing form ourselves.

Leicester now seem most likely to be deleted from the race. I can't wait . 18pts behind us feels like a good time to remove a club from the list? What people think? Maybe round it up to 20?

It was obvious Southampton and Ipswich will be on the charge.

Posted a while ago how the 21/22 season was an exact match for our start (I want to say after 13 games). Comparing it to the same season after 17 games...

1. Bournemouth 40 pts GD 21
2. Fulham 38 pts GD 30
3. West Brom 32 pts GD 12

To have a 10 point gap over second and third is just insane, and let's be honest it's basically 11 with that goal difference advantage.
