I think if CCFC were being charged for the food and drink staff it would have been mentioned by now, it would be a bit of a piss take.

We are going to get 10 - 15,000 footfall for you every other week, you will get all the money from it and we have to pay your staff.

This is what I mean, I have a feeling it wouldn't be included though as Tim Fisher wouldn't have not mentioned it would he?

It does sound steep but as I don't know what it was that was included, I'm going to go with "I hope that the best team wins at Walsall".

Funny they must be happy to pay it, a bit like CCFC until they saw they could move away to a shed 35 miles away, funny how agendas change with time.......

It's about time they swallowed there pride and tried to negotiate with the council to return if they don't trust them and feel they are going to get screwed then they should ask a couple supporters to be on the negotiating team (in a silent capacity) to oversee what is going on and then relay what they see to the rest of us.

No good having your Sandra Garlick types more of a radical bunch that way more would believe what is going on.........

OSB would be a good choice.

They want to play football, not hold a concert. Is the Walsall green bit in the middle not as "world class" as the Ricoh green bit in the middle?

obviously not. they will also use the loo a few times so other uses are or would be included

Shame they're pricing themselves out of the market, isn't it?

Are you suggesting usage of toilets is not included in the price in Walsall?

Wonder if there is more to this story than we're hearing?

Was wasting some time on the CET site and there's a match report and pictures from the Coventry Telegraph Cup at the Ricoh, article also mentions the Coventry Charity Cup at the Ricoh the week before.

Seems a touch odd that its financially viable for the organisers of those 2 competitions but not for the Birmingham FA.

Keep trying Dave. You'll spin it round like a record as they say.

I blame it all on someone putting a balloon on a car. It's the done thing on here isn't it?

Yep, they probably tried to invoice CCFC for the balloon as well with 75% margins!*

What are you on about? Leicester Reserves, CCFC Ladies, charity games and two small cup finals have all afforded to be stage games at the Ricoh but a Cup Final put on by Birmingham FA can not? That's not spin that's factual.

There's nothing to suggest increased costs (looking at the pics on the CET at least one of the cup finals was a night game under floodlights) so either ACL have jacked the price up massively for no reason and lost the business, which may well be the case, or there is something we don't know about coming in to play.

Ooh that's a golden snippet, Nick - they won't deal with OSB? That sounds an awful lot to me like it's because they're scared someone might ask really awkward questions.

That is nothing official, just my opinion, so I am not saying 100% they won't deal with him Just my opinion that they won't because of things in the past.

They did have an interesting reaction to him (let alone the question he asked) at the forum last summer.

Exactly! What would be needed is another accountant who could analyse or OSB to get a disguise.

Yeah, and those mints they put in those funny shaped bowls taste awful too. Good to see that you wash your hands though, well brought up obviously.

To be fair when you're paying (and at the time we were) £1.3m rent and £10k per game match costs for a 'world class' venue then having working handriers shouldn't be too much of an ask....

I think he had been hired as an expert once by the trustees of the Higgs Centre (as opposed to the Higgs Charity) to represent them at one meeting with our club. The CCFC finance bloke at the forum seemed/sounded a little troubled when OSB58 asked a question and the finance bloke recognised him from the meeting.

For the benefit of the lawyers I am not suggesting OSB58, the Higgs Centre, the trustees or the club/staff members have done anything wrong.

Lazy sniping? If you think that charging 5K for a ladies cup final is allowing the community to use the local resource that's up to you. Frankly I think it shows how much of a fuck ACL gives about Coventry and the community.... as opposed to it's bottom line.

Fuck all to do with Kestrels though, is it? As you know, CCLFC have used the Ricoh a number of times, as have others.

Let's be honest, neither you nor I know why ACL have chosen to charge that much this time - you've made up your mind though, without troubling yourself too much with any possiblities that don't fall into your world view. If you'd actually bother to read what I've written you can see my opinion, but that might involve a bit of thinking rather than an off-the-cuff one liner. Hey, maybe you can work something about spiders into the next one....

It is a shame ACL can't / won't comment.

I wonder if the clubs can? Simon?

Let's ask them Nick! C'mon, if ML really isn't scared of any awkward questions then people like OSB are exactly who the club should be talking to. If they can convince him that they've got a plan I'd buy it for sure!

This I agree with completely.

I suppose that ACL do want to keep pricing secret - most companies do when there's a possible differential that customers might get awkward about, but I'd love to know the reason behind the increase. It could be that BCFA could tell us what they asked for, and why that was different (if it was different) to what CCLFC normally want. And why they couldn't use the Oval as an alternate (which I'd cheerfully have gone to, in truth).
