Richard Shaw or A.N.Other (1 Viewer)

Does an exciting and unexpected win against higher league opponents make Richard Shaw a good manageriel prospect anymore than a 1-0 defeat yesterday puts him out of the running, should the width of a cross bar influence a decision, the bar was hit in both games which in either game possibly influenced the result, IMO no. Now i'm not saying we should select Shaw but i am saying he has a CV worth looking at when you study the whole picture.

He is here already so will have an opinion on all the players which may differ from now once in full charge. Was part of the Millwall management team when they got promoted from this division so has experience in this division. Was a player here for years at the highest level, so has an affinity with the club.

The negatives: Not been a manager before being the obvious other than a month as temp. at Millwall. Of the list of 40 or so we the fans make our "who should we have from that lot" judgement on their manageriel record. Not a "name" like a Wise, McCarthy or Davies. Don't know how he would fair in the other important roles as a manager, buying players, man-management, handling situations when we go on a poor run of results, tactics etc, etc.

We have had the experienced Premiership names Peter Reid and Chris Coleman, we have had the young up and coming name Iain Dowie, we have had the ex-City boy AND fans choice with a decent record in the lower leagues Mickey Adams and we have had one who had taken "little" club, Watford, from nowhere to the Prem and to a semi-final in Ady Boothroyd, none did a lot of good here. We haven't had a totally new manager yet to stamp his mark.

Now i'm not advocating Richard Shaw is the man but he has a CV worth looking at and not just being dismissed on a 1-0 defeat at Crewe.

My bigger concern is the two articles likely to be selecting the next boss Tim Fisher and that Steve Waggott. What credentials do they have to pick a manager ?

Loved his interview and i know it is easy having won but lets forget this must have experience bollox We are a third division club, David Moyes, Tony Pulis, Big Sam, Paul Lambert and Nigel Atkins all started in that division.

Just get a football manager in, don't rely on luck.

We need someone who knows how to manage players and understands tactics and how to vary them. Thorn, Shaw and Carsley will have a go but experience is needed. Look at yesterday, the plan was not working and the manager(s) could not vary it. The Crewe manager sussed us out and it was game over.

we played the diamond again yesterday, had everybody back from corners, this didn't work under thorn so why would it work now? Shaw isnt the man for the job, Im sick of watching this dross, the same old tried and failed tactics. Just when you think it can't get anyworse it does.

A manager who loves being a manager is what we need! A good coach is one thing, but you look at Gus Poyet and Paolo Di Canio they both live and breath being a manager not just a coach!

Thats what this club needs, i think Wise is the only person who would do that!!!

What a sad prick sitting at his desk with a list of ex threads to bring up as and when, get a life man. As it happens I WOULD give the job to Shaw AND Carsley as a duo and wouldn't judge them on a 1-0 reverse at Crewe. My bigger concern is the 2 plebs selecting our manager, what credentials do they have other than what sisu tell them to do. It seems all our ills are manager problems, no it isn't, it is those 2 articles and our owners, wake up and smell the coffee.

we need an experienced manager, fishface has already stated that Shaw and Carsley will remain here no matter who is appointed.

id love us to push the boat out and go for someone like Billy Davies or Mick McCarthy but i dont think they will and dont think either would want to touch us with a barge pole tbh given sisus track record.

If no chance with them then id take Wise who has already applied so obviously wants it, got a pretty good record at this level and championship and would have the fans onside straight away due to his 5 month stint here a few years ago.

When was the manager who didn't leave everyone back!

I fear the new manager do the same, my question is, why do they keep all 11 back, even last year we kept Nimely back!!!

It is sisu who will decide based on finance. I am sure they will see 2 people (Shaw & Carsley) with as much football pedigree as any. Employing a third person would add to the wage bill, they want that wage bill to go the other way.

It seems to be a modern trend, are we the only ones who do it ? Fear of losing is the reason.

I apologise and admit you are one of the few posters on here i read, all my love.

I wasn't having a dig.

City fans have been pissed about now for so many years now it's understandable that we all cling on to the smallest glimmer of hope and Tuesday gave us that.

Another false dawn it seems.

Bily Davies spent multiple millions at Forest and still demanded more money. Has a history of expecting money and falling out with boards.

Wouldn't work at all as far as I can see.

Billy Davies:

Some critics believed that Davies was a victim of his own success after overachieving in his first season at Pride Park,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-5 while others cited his apparent tactical inefficiencies at top flight level poor big money signings (including £3m Claude Davishttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-6) and suggested Davies had engineered his own departure, in the form of an outspoken rant against the boardhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-7 so as to avoid having a relegation on his CV.

On 31 December 2008, it was announced on the official Nottingham Forest website that the club was in negotiations with Davies to succeed the recently-sacked Colin Calderwood. Davies was confirmed as their manager on 1 January 2009.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-13

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-13
In the summer of 2009 Davies made several additions to his squad and spent around £4m. Despite having six first-team strikers, the season did not get off to the best start, with Forest playing well but failing to get the results many thought their performances deserved. However Forest embarked upon a 18-match unbeaten run starting at the end of September and including 10 wins, 5 of which came successively, to rapidly climb the table into a playoff position at the end of November.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-15 Following failure in the play-offs for the second season running, on 12 June 2011 Davies was sacked as manager of Nottingham Forest.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-16http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Davies#cite_note-17

Wise or Davies two managers who would kick these useless players up the arse and get them playing with passion and commitment which at the end of the day is all I want from my team!
