Just a clarification if i may, could someone please point me to the annoucement that next years season tickets sales have actually been mortgaged. Not saying they have or havent but as yet I havent seen more than speculation put forward as fact. I assume i missed it. I know they got up front money on this years sales - well the ones that were not paid in cash or by credit card that is because you would daft to mortgage money you already have wouldnt you ?...... but thats basically factoring a debt and not unusual business practice.

Basically everytime they are about to run out of money they sell something or take out a loan on an asset or future income. Wonder how long the Ben Turner money willl last, till January perhaps?

I don't disagree with you, but at some point you end up having to sell the car you use to get to work. Then what do you do?

It's basically a race against time: Can we break even before we literally have nothing to sell to pay the bills?

It's an ongoing excercise. It goes back many, many years and will continue no matter the owner until the club runs continuesly at a profit. Loan agianst season tickets is not a new trick in the book and is used by many clubs - in the pre-season it will happen again.

The CT reported that the Football League-including our board-had voted to outlaw it from next season.

Oh, and Ranson appointed Thorn as Caretaker Manager. Don't try to claim any credit for the board when it was AT's work on the training ground that saved our season. The off field turmoil continued.

Sisu, KD was so proud to state they have saved 40% on our wage bill this season and we are now turning it around!!!!!!!!!!!! what he forgot to state that saving that sort of money on a squad that had finished 18th or no better more times than not was ultimately going to send us down. So although you should sell when you are out of money i suggest instead you know how to run a football club before you invest in one or buy one, as today we are in a right state.

With the council, ACL and now the trust coming out along with old players stating that Sisu need to go, R.Keys is really on safe ground stating on national radio what he knows and as SISU have been quiet on this i suggest something might ring true with Keys words...

If we don't break even the club goes into bankruptcy/admin. If a new investor comes in at that point we will all expect him/them to spend a few millions to strengthen the team, and when that is not enough to get us promoted he/they will be either run out of the club or forced spend a few more millions (in which case we will move away from breaking even).

The key to the future is the stadium as we have all discussed for ages. Without revenues from the stadium the club will never become successful. As the council and probably 99% of the fans agree sisu should not be allowed access to the stadium we face this situation until the club run out of money and assets all together - and it may take longer than most think.
With the current situation time is not on our side.

It was Ray Ranson who pursuaded sisu to invest and they relied on him to be the one who knew how to run a football club.

I would hope there is a creditable offer on the table, but that offer will probably have to include a plan to secure the 30+ mil invested by the funds. And this is for me the tricky part.
Either ...
1) New investors pay back in full the outstanding loan - which is ludicrous as 30 mil would be better used buying into the stadium revenue.
Or ...
2) a payback scheme - which will mean periodic installments and most likely an added interest. Any interest paid will add to the deficit and make it harder for a new owner to gain profitability.

I don't think the key is the stadium to be honest. I think the key is the fanbase. Grow that and we start to bring incomings closer to outgoings without having to sell the family silver (or brass as is currently the case).

Too little has been done on that side IMO. I posted in another thread some of the things I'd be doing if I was commercial director of CCFC. It's not about ticket prices or even the product on the pitch as much as it's about building an identity and the game day experience, something we've done precious little of in recent years. Running a football club is more like organising a community than it is running a used car dealership IMO.

The other obvious way to build the fanbase is investment and increased expectation, though that is potentially only short term and can backfire if success is not immediate.

So someone is telling porkies and im not so sure on passed record id trust Sisu over anyone,,, even RR...

Said it before that I feel Ranson was on the right track in the first 18 months. After that SISU obviously pulled the financial rug. Ridiculous IMO, you can't turn a club around in 18 months. that's not even one whole season in reality. We had one summer of building (when we brought in Gunnar, Westwood, etc.) then the very next season starting the dismantling with the sales of Fox and Dann. It was all downhill from there.

Ranson appointed Coleman and Boothroyd, and, by all accounts, was looking at bringing in Andy Ritchie before he left/was pushed.

Yes and most of that was Paul Clouting's remit; the man credited with putting 1,000's on ailing gates at Derby and Ipswich. You'd have to assume that he didn't really get the backing from SISU in that role, instead being used as a mouthpiece to convey bad news in nuetral terms.

Assuming Ken is now doing this job too, you should send him your ideas from the other post Shmmeee! That perfectly illustrated for me what the club is lacking.

Not giving Ranson credit, just not giving any to the "new board" for the change around in fortunes last season. I don't think anyone believes we stayed up last season because of Ken Dulieu's financial wizardry or Len Brody's inspiring motivational speeches on the game of "soccer".

Touching on the point about the match day experience. I had to go to a Vile game with my Vile fan mate about 3 seasons ago (long story) but they had loads going on outside the ground before and after the game, stalls, kids entertainment, the whole lot really. When I returned to the Ricoh a week later it made me realise how far behind the premier league we had become and since then we've slipped even further. Anyway the vile lost 2-0 to Wigan that day so that made the day worthwhile!

totally agree, i went to a celtic game and they had lots going on outside the ground before and after kickoff - it creates a real buzz around the ground and adds to the excitment.

When I last went to Villa, there was a lot going on outside the ground as well.

I would email Ken if I thought a) that he'd pay any attention or b) that they wouldn't completely fuck up the implementation.

If you have good ideas surely you should send them today rather than next year or next decade. If they ignore you or screw up implementation then you have done your part and can still come back when new management walks in.

To be honest I don't think it's anything revolutionary. I just put on another thread some obvious things that I thought the club could do and was told I should send them to KD. If someone wants to put his email addy up I'll happily fire off a link.
