Yeah, but not expectation to rule as you originally said. I couldn’t understand what you meant.Exception to main point about all talent getting hoovered up, hopefully being Andrew’s next season

Anybody outside of the real first team squad looks miles off it, I watched the under 23’s at the cbs and the best player was Raphael by a long way most of both teams looked like non league players of the future.Getting overlooked regardless of how well he performs for the U21s. There’s a disconnect been academy and first team now. Don’t think there’s much desire to put the kids in because we now need instant success - readymade players
Is it crazy to suggest we replace the academy as it is with a B team set up similar to Brentford?
He’s been an unfortunate victim of our success.Getting overlooked regardless of how well he performs for the U21s. There’s a disconnect been academy and first team now. Don’t think there’s much desire to put the kids in because we now need instant success - readymade players
To be fair though, Howley's had two failed loan spells in Scotland. If you can't get a game in the second tier in Scotland, you're not going to break into a championship team.Getting overlooked regardless of how well he performs for the U21s. I know a team who do that and while it sounds good, it can mean some lads aren’t getting consistent game time for months.I’d get rid of the U23s. Kids who hit pro terms either on loan or training with the first team. Arrange friendlies if you want match practice but for me either you’re developing them with training or you’re getting them first team experience.
They have to perform on loan and Howley didn't.Getting overlooked regardless of how well he performs for the U21s. There’s a disconnect been academy and first team now. Don’t think there’s much desire to put the kids in because we now need instant success - readymade players

I actually think the opposite approach can be more beneficial, where you build a B team of released players to avoid players getting poached. Brentford are a good example of this
I think the issue is any youngster showing promise is sold to a premier league academy before they've even hit puberty.I just think the U23 standard is so low you may as well use Nuneaton Town as a feeder club instead. At least the games mean something and you’re playing against men.
I'm not sure that's necessarily true, especially given we've had a few players who were late bloomers.Said for ages to bin the u23s off
Nowadays you know by 17/18 if a player will make it

Not sure what is happening there. It sounded positive and people were raving about his performance v Rangers. Then selected for the Wales senior squad. Didn't make the bench in both games. Since then he has hardly featured for Motherwell. Mostly an unused sub.Exception to main point about all talent getting hoovered up, hopefully being Andrew’s next season

Might have been carrying a knock? Not sure what is happening there. It sounded positive and people were raving about his performance v Rangers. Then selected for the Wales senior squad. Didn't make the bench in both games. Since then he has hardly featured for Motherwell. Mostly an unused sub.
Agreed and he is only 18.I wouldn’t worry too much, young players have peaks and troughs.
The club isn’t a charity and he isn’t getting any better.I might be in the minority here, but I'd have liked to have seen Pato get a years contract.
Yes his age is against him but he offers something a little different and is obviously a Cov lad.
Correct, but from the little game time he had, he looked alright in my opinion. The club isn’t a charity and he isn’t getting any better.
I think we could sign players who could provide that while offering more on the pitch.Correct, but from the little game time he had, he looked alright in my opinion.
I'd imagine his wages aren't exactly high and he'd be happy to be a sub.
His experience could also be helpful, especially in the dressing room like Godden or Fadz in the past.
Yeah that's fair. Perhaps this is the case and why we didn't offer Pato a contract?I think we could sign players who could provide that while offering more on the pitch.
It’s not always as simple as that. He picked up injuries and the manager (in his 2nd stint) had his favourites even though he was promised game time and a chance. There’s always the finer details we don’t tend to hear about that affects things and not just ‘he’s shit because he didn’t oerform”They have to perform on loan and Howley didn't.
Burroughs appeared to be doing well at Lincoln then he had the car crash and has been poor since.
We don’t have an U23s team?I’d get rid of the U23s. Kids who hit pro terms either on loan or training with the first team. Arrange friendlies if you want match practice but for me either you’re developing them with training or you’re getting them first team experience.
