Remember This One Time... (1 Viewer)

Does anyone remember this happier time? It's from a Sydney newspaper that I cut out and kept. I found it this week when I cleaned up a bit.

My dad had a similar newspaper cutting from that week as well. Not sure what paper it came from, but he took pride in showing me that cutting at every opportunity. I think it was part of his process of ensuring I grow up supporting City, by trying to convince me that we were actually up there with the title contenders. Unfortunately, I grew wise to this over the years. Did the trick at the time though!

i rememer that - we then went to millwall in a top of the table clash - I think they beat us 4-0 with sheringham and cascarino bagging some goals

It was either that or the season after.

I remember going to the Norwich game, but that's about it. I went more that season as a lad than I did any other; we were a top quality top flight side that would have been challenging for Europe if English clubs were in it. Rather than remembering the Cup win as a platform to kick on being wasted, for me and my dad it was actually the Golden Era of supporting the club; we were a much better side after winning the cup than ever before it, and the sense of professionalism, organisation, graft and class about that side was a joy to behold, probably epitomised by people like Phillips-who my long-suffering old man declared was "the best City LB I've ever seen" (despite the fact he was out of position by about as much as he could be as a R/CM!).

Should have given Snoz a bloody 10 year contract IMO!
