Someone explain to me why he spoke to Kitching yesterday after their player went down on the edge of our box.
Play continued and when it eventually stopped he approached the player on the floor and spoke to him.
He then went over to Kitching and had a long conversation. About what?
The referee had seen nothing, the assistant had seen nothing. Why approach Kitching and speak to him, as captain Allen should have run over and asked the referee what he thought he was doing.

Kitching tore him a new one for not booking the person who fouled saka

This was long after that and on the edge of our box.
Obviously someone had breathed heavily on their man,and he collapsed as if he was dead.
The reff AFTER speaking to him, chose to go and have a long chat with Kitch.
As captain I would have wanted to know why,was it because of something their player said?

I think it was the subderland player who went down on the edge of the box
Lino and ref didn’t see it so he was telling him I’m watching you and I think kitch was saying give a decision then or shut up

???? you had a drink Pete ? Or just watching the final ?
And anyway you know full well you don’t approach a player and say, I didn’t see anything but I am watching you.
Not unless you want to open yourself up to ridicule
I didn’t see what you didn’t do player, but don’t do it again cuz I’m watching you
He would look a right fool.

Didn't think the ref had a great game but he wasn't the reason we lost. The ref was par for a championship sort of expected the standard.

Didn’t stop the time wasting from the start, didn’t book their player when grabbing Tats after he’d span him and got away.
Didn’t have a problem booking our players tho for similar challenges.

Blew up after most corners when Blunderland players threw themselves to the ground but waved away our protests when their players did the same thing to us.

I’m NOT blaming the ref for losing but yet again the opposition get much more of the refs calls in their favour.

Massive difference in performance by Atwell last week and these bloody cretans.

No qualms over any decisions tonight specifically.

As I've always said, every sympathy with them over individual decisions etc. as it's an impossible ask, but they really do need to understand when they are being played with the time wasting etc.

I’d agree with that. No awful decisions (although very card happy with us in 2nd) but completely played as usual when it came to time wasting and Sunderland getting a foul in the box for every corner they had to defend. As standard complete disparity with what a defender gets away with in the box compared to an attacker.

Once the ref has made a fuss about shoving in the box for a corner it’s a waste of time putting the ball in there as he will almost certainly give the defensive team a free kick.

True. We are better off going short with a view to driving into the box to get a pen.

Warched highlights of Leyton Orient's payoff game Kelman must be 2 yards offside at least for their first goal and then should have had a penalty when his standing leg was taken away from him in the SH .
Not just our league have sh1t officals.

Humans plural not just 1 your right referee and linesman both missed them, there were quite a few more I noticed in the highlights how many more there were in the rest of the game god only knows.I'd urge you to take a look .They should both be sacked.
These things cost managers their jobs and clubs thousands of pounds.

Can only think the linesman thought the Stockport defender headed the ball, rather than the Orient forward.

The refs are generally very poor and tend to get sidetracked into listening or being led by oneside in any game. Which leads to inconsistency on decisions and a visual bias in any game. The proof of this is the same ref making different decisions made in different games for the same offences.

In my opinion they hide behind the FA and never are held responsible for inconsistent performances. The reason certain teams run games is they are allowed too, teams ploy is to get in the refs ear from the start with a manager on the sideline giving it to the 4th at the same time. The refs are not strong enough to stamp out time wasting or allowing a player to run round kicking, elbowing and then hurting a player due to the fact of not being told to calm down with the 1st incident.

Refs run round and don't see the most obvious but pretend to see all and know all while probably never ever played the game.. In my opinion refs are 3 kinds of refs, easily led, inconsistent or consistently making themselves the star of the game. The fact after some are hired to train new refs to make the same mistakes or be given roles in the media to talk about decisions in games shows nothing will change. Best refs we wouldn't know the names or need to..

And VAR doesn't make things better. Players get things wrong, managers get things wrong, fans get things wrong. That's football, get over it, stop trying to create a blame culture; if you can't live with it go and watch something else.

VAR is great when used for things it is meant for, for example the Leyton Orient goal is a perfect example of when VAR is needed.

It shouldn't be for micro offisides etc

Unfortunately you’ve fell into that oh so familiar trap. A referee is judged on how he deals with the big decisions/key incidents during the game (which can be the match changing decisions).
If, like you say above, the referee coasts through the game and we don’t notice him it’s because very little has happened and the game is fairly straightforward with no key/major incidents.
During the Orient/Stockport game the Referee and the assistant made a huge blunder although I can have some sympathy for the assistant as he clearly thought it came off the head of the Stockport(blue) player. The referee should have spotted this and a conversation should have taken place between the two. There is no excuse really for the referee not seeing it. As a team I can assure you that they will be accountable behind closed doors.
The reason they are appointed to a high profile fixtures such as this the first place is they are deemed to have been at the top in terms of performance on the field throughout the season.
I can assure you that people will rightly or wrongly criticize officials, but there is not a long line of people waiting in the wings to take their places or will necessarily be better.

Then surely the referee should have asked the linesman who headed the ball and if he said the defender the referee should have over ruled him.

If you're going to use it for obvious offsides then you have to use it for micro offsides as well.

Personally I wouldn't use it for any of them. Somehow the game will struggle on.

The relationship between the referee and VAR is all wrong imo. VAR shouldn’t refer the referee to incidents but the referee should refer an incident to VAR themself to ‘check their homework’.

That way, the incidents that aren’t referred to VAR is down to the referee. As things stand, it’s somewhat of a lottery as to who and what gets referred by VAR, hence the constant inconsistencies.
