Yeah, Gallagher pushed Dasilva and then falls down like a sack of shit moments later when Dasilva pulls him back.

Clearly the linesman saw only the second contact and not the first because he flagged like a motherfucker, couldn't wait to give it.

The way I saw that was Gallagher yanked Dasilva back as the ball was played to get a yard on him, a clear foul, that the officials missed.

Re watch the highlights. Even the commentators who were pretty neutral said it was a needless foul by Dasilva. What Gallagher did happens all the time and you don't get free kicks for it. There is a lot of pushing and nudging to create space as the ball is arriving its part of the game, Kitching does it all the time as does Bidwell.
Dasilva responded by wrapping both arms around Gallaghers waste and then took them both to the floor.

Just because it happens all the time and doesn't get given, doesn't mean it's not a foul. This is the common issue atm with refereeing and their constant need to 'let the game flow'. Often leads to fouls not being given because they're not 'enough of a foul'. A foul is a foul and should be treated as such. Prime example being the pen we got at Oxford, yes it's a foul all day, no they never get given, but they should and with a far greater frequency.

I have never understood he is good going forward argument either. He rarely takes on a man to try and get in behind (unlike Van Ewijk). He rarely crosses (unlike Bidwell) and just looks for simple safe passes, even if it means going back to the halfway line. If he cuts inside he is lost as he is on his wrong foot and often gives the ball away. For somebody who started out as a winger it is criminal he cannot receive the ball and turn (unlike Sakamoto, Rudoni, Eccles, Torp and Grimes), he can only play the ball the way he is facing. In fact that is a weakness of Van Ewijk too, he can do it if he is in space but not when under pressure, which makes him predictable at times about passing backwards.

Regarding our winner, time running out, ball played to Grimes and only one thing on his mind play the ball into the box. It was a great delivery aimed at Haji Wright. Most importantly it worked the centre half who only half cleared it. It fell to Bobby Thomas who did the rest and we win a game we perhaps didn't deserve to.

But Dasilva would never have put that ball in from that position even with the clock running down.

It was my big criticism of Robins and Viveash. We never worked the centre halfs enough. Our tempo in possession was too predictable and too slow. Last season at home to WBA when chasing the game, was a great example, as we passed it from one side of the pitch to the other around the penalty area. The WBA fans ironically cheering every pass we made as the clock ran down. Ok we had the ball but we were not hurting them. We weren't working their defenders, we weren't building pressure and just not using the ball in a way to force them to make an error. So many goals come from turning defenders and making them play the ball facing their own goal. Or defenders just making half clearances and not getting it out of the penalty area.

We still get into good wide positions on both wings and end up playing the ball backwards or sideways, I wish we would cross it more when we get in those positions.

I know Dasilva's small but surely he wouldn't need both arms?

I agree that the wrestling that goes on at corners is ridiculous and really annoys me. Especially when players aren't even looking at the ball and just at the player they are wrestling with.

But I disagree on this, a nudge or a push isn't always a foul. You have a right to stand your ground and own your space on the pitch. Contact is not a foul, football is a contact sport. I wish fans would get their heads around this. They manage it when it is their player doing it but not so well when it is the opposition.

It's like when defenders let the ball run and shepherd it out for a goal kick. They come into contact with the opponent and protect their space and hold the opponent off. It's not a foul they are protecting the ball. It is also not obstruction, if they keep the ball within playing distance of themselves, they are shielding it.

Fans are great at calling out bad decisions refs give against their team. Strangely silent when the ref gives a bad decision against the opposition.

Is if just me, or does anyone else here get frustrated by seeing defenders wrapping both arms round the man they're marking at corners and free kicks? I can't believe they don't get penalised for this. Refs just delay the kick while they go and explain to players that they're not supposed to do that cos its a foul. It would be great if they just let them get on with it and then award a penalty for it

Absolutely agree, it's the inconsistency that causes the issues. How can a referee not give the challenge on EMC for the penalty, but give the foul for Dasilva?

It was and good to see. But the problem refs have is there is so much going on at corners these days; both sides are equally guilty of commiting fouls.

It's a fine line between players jostling each other because they want to stand in a certain spot. Blocking the keeper off on his line is the common one and blocking key attackers. It's shirt pulling and sumo wrestling contests the ref is really trying to manage.

At Oxford one defender pulled the player back by his shirt then pushed him to the floor from behind which prevented him heading the ball. It was a great spot by the ref.

Appalling officials tonight.

Second goal was out of play. Added time embarrassing.

I'm sure people will defend that

Didn't deserve anything though.

He spent about 3 minutes checking a player was ok who was off the pitch.

How did he give 1 then 3 minutes?

It wasn’t long ago that everyone was saying what a good official Sam Allison was. I never seen it myself.

thought the first was offside, their player should have had a second yellow for the blatant dive on a yellow, second looked out of play and added time was laughable...................but, we were fucking shit, subs should have been made way earlier

I've seen that goal at one angle it looked out then on a 2 Nd viewing it looked in. Funny how the officials are always to blame for our results .

I don't think anyone's blaming the officials. Good ref and we still lose.

You can't have watched that game and thought they weren't abysmal, though.

I think Bidders would have thanked him! Definitely not at the races today though. Probably carrying an injury same as EMC

They say things even themselves up over the season , so let’s hope that come Saturday, the linesmen can keep up with play & the referee can see blatant fouls & constant time wasting ……. or am I dreaming ?

Agree with Nick-at the game and the added time was ridiculous. He blew up early both halves too.

As for his decision making-very much a home ref. Accepted a lot of their aggressive play off the ball and then gave them free kicks if they fell over.

As for Bidwell getting sent off-luckily he did it in front of Lino who saw Derby player flop and told ref-otherwise he was a goner.

I’m fairly sure he was the referee in the reverse fixture (which was of course the nail in MR’s coffin). That in itself, doesn’t happen very often.

Whilst we were also abysmal on that occasion he made some shocking decisions that night too. From memory, their second goal was blatantly offside.

with the injuries, goal and amount of time wasted in the first half, for their to be 1 minute of added time was a joke.

not that we were likely to score, but its basics like this from referees I cannot fathom.

He bottled booking their player for the clear dive who was all ready on a booking. That probably saved Bidwell.

Both the ref and the linesman looked like they had not ever reed a game before. having to double check simple decisions.

The time keeping shocking.
