Me neither.

It looked blatant that their bloke was between the goalie and our forward, so our bloke can't have blocked him.

Was it Bernard? If so that's both Allen and his own Keeper he has got away with fouling against us in cup games.

As I am someone prone to criticise referees, I thought I had to say, the guy who refereed today was decent.

Think he was very lenient on the one from McNally, but other than that, he was decent.

It was funny when he moved the ball from their corner he knew once he got there he had to do something and moved it way to far.

Yeah completely agree. Surprised McNally didn’t get booked but I’d rather a ref be lenient than strict. Refreshing when a player falls over and the ref doesn’t buy it.

Who was the ref?

We don’t know, and that’s how it should be. Was excellent

Was consistent throughout the game
No cards was amazing and often the tackles and dissent ratchet up
They didn’t so he’s got to think he’s done well

Only 31 years old. I thought he was good - I can’t remember a time where I was particularly upset with a decision. How it should be.

Hmm, thought he was poor due to the constant pushing on city players immediately they went near the ball, breaking every attempt to get forward by fouling and the penalty appeal looked stonewall. Get he let play, no cards but the opposition yesterday were Really close to what should have been numerous yellows with out intervention….and simms no protection at all from being held or shirt pulled off him but he doesn’t seem to get riled up enough about it.

Yes, should have been Bobby Madeley refereeing us yesterday. Dodged a bullet there.

Let a lot go from both sides, and took no notice of players sitting on the floor looking stupid.
Will do for me.

I thought he let a lot go, which doesn’t normally suit us as often we get bullied.
A special mention has to go to the East stand lino, he was absolutely abysmal.
Three times BTA was offside and he didn’t spot it. I think someone must’ve had a word in his ear because the next twice BTA was on side and he gave him off.

The positioning of the ball for corners is more trouble than it's worth. There must be a simple way to change it that stops all this palaver.

That it has to be inside the area but maybe make it a little bigger, this shadow of the ball stuff is bollocks

Yeah but the part touching the ground is often put completely outside the marking, that's where the problems arise.

I must have watched a different game from most on here. The officials made mistakes like the non penalty, allowing the Bristol player to go many yards up the pitch from where the ball went out for throw ins a good 20 yards one time. The incident just before half time with putting the boot on and waiting for him making out he was going to add the time he didn't.When one of our players lost a boot quite prepared to let play go on and don't start me on offside decisions by the linesman in front of us.A big cheer went up when he got one right.
I noticed we are starting to practice some of the dark arts ourselves like pulling players out the way when their attacking and Dovin attending Wilson school of timewasting.

I don't think anyone was claiming he didn't make mistakes, I certainly didn't, I just thought to comment as he didn't get any of the major decisions wrong, of which, in fairness, there were few.

I agree with what you say, bar maybe the penalty, but I haven't seen it back, but I think every referee seems to get suckered into that shit. Overall, I think you're being harsh to say he was anything worse than "alright". Maybe the bar is set low, though.

When the corner is in singers corner - unless we are leading the call for him to move it within the diamond just wastes time for us - drives me potty as we never get it back - also free kicks - no one moves 10 yards away - never enforced by the ref

What is a diamond? It’s a quadrant.
And just to explain it; if all of the ball isn’t over all of the line, then it is still in the quadrant, exactly the same as the throw-ins, penalty area and goal lines.

What they call the shadow , I didn't realise that tell Japan scored that goal against Spain where the ball appeared to be out before the Japanese player scored. The ball appeared out but the shadow of the ball was deemed to be on the byline. Hence the goal was given.

We need a light placed in every corner to throw the shadow into the pitch.

A good ref. for me is one I haven't even noticed (when talking about the game don't mention him)and i certainly noticed him.The boot incident before half time nearer 3 minutes than 1. He jestered he was adding it on and no way did he.I thought his decision making in general fell short. One good point he left player who try to rule refs. by lying down claiming a foul sitting there.
The linesman if he was good hate to see a bad one.

It took the ref about 4 minutes to notice an additional ball on the pitch.

I know the play was down the other end, but even when it went out of play and he looked down in the corner, he still completely missed it, so I assume he couldn't see it.

Wasn’t interfering play on or at least have a plan for removing it ball boy or assistant was embarrassing

I think they need to make up their mind about what ball boys can and can't do. This whole "they can only get it and put it back on the cone" is nonsense when you watch games and they are clearly throwing it to players or sat there looking at it depending on what the score is.

Ours just sit there and watch.
