If I’m Doug, I talk to my recruitment team about allowing a spine of older players with leadership capabilities to come in to help develop the younger lads, even offer a pathway to coaching if that’s what they want.
For example if we carry on with a back three we’ll need an experienced CB who can read the game and pick a pass. Wouldn’t mind Santos from Bolton if we would want to keep wages down. But there must be some premiership players on there way down we could start to target.

Oh dear, best not to look back on some observations that looked obvious at the time.We had a set up that seemed to be able to develop players turning some of them into world beaters. Still relatively early days, but some players seem to be going backwards in their development.
Tbf you were bang on about Yamamoto, that one didn't work out at all.Something irritates me is Robins said on Monday that Yamamoto and Wright were struggling to settle. If we were really careful with our recruiting why did we take a chance on oversees players and not UK based players. It just increased the risk of failure and we’re seeing it certainly with Wright.
I know there’s a risk with uk based signings but homesick must be bottom of the list right?
