Blimey.

Mind you, just googled, he's only 27, so I can see why clubs will take a gamble on him.

I just think his level is the Championship though.

Wonder if Elliot Ward will be wanted at Bournemouth. Didn't like him first time round but like to think he has grown up a little now and could be useful in this league?

Quite funny reading this thread. Most of those suggested aren't particularly realistic. Mcgoldrick a on about £20k per week at Ipswich. And the £2.5m is the wage budget not transfer kitty.

2.5 million / 52 weeks / 18 players = £2,670 per week

I'm sure DMG will take a 90% pay cut

Why don't you suggest someone realistic then?

I have no idea who is out of contract at the end of the season. Got a list?

Look at bristol city's signings - 2x old 34+ players that were released and the rest were decent players signed from league one - agard, freeman, etc. they didn't go for 'names' because they had played in the PL or the championship. And apart from the two oldies (Elliot and wilbraham) the signings were young (25 or under) hungry players.

I think Blair Adams is far too good to drop down into League Two with Notts County. And we have been terrible at left back for most of the season.

Don't laugh - but I bet he's on better money at Notts County and we won't be able to afford his wages

I don't think anyone has listened to what TM has been saying,, we are so poor off the field we might as well throw darts at the list of available players hoping one will jump. SW has lied about scouts, plans and investment he has also been more involved than he lets on..So play fantasy football all you want until a manger gets backed to decide with his staff who to bring in that fits his model,, SW will just keep throwing players like the German at them saying deal with it.

TM is no clown or anyone's yes man, he will walk if things are not put into place,, no structure, no plan and in a few days may have no manager...The root cause is there to see lets not get carried way with names who are way out of reach or retired!!!..

He'd be on my list for sure, pretty consistent throughout his career. Has experience without being over the hill. He signed for Crawley last summer and it was a 2 year deal so unless he has a get out for relegation he might cost us. Not a huge amount I wouldn't have thought, worth it to have someone who is a proven goalscorer.

If TM stays I think you will find quite a few targets are championship level as that is where most of his contacts are. I would find it difficult to believe he would target Shrewsbury plays even they may be world beaters.

No thanks. 36 and scored 5 in 24 games this season. Hardly scoring well

This is what I mean when I say we always suggest 'names'.

Championship players don't necessarily make good L1 players

isnt this what a forum is about ?, its not like BRR is driving to Scotland at the mo to sign him on behalf of the club, he is just putting it out there, and you have responded.

Not a massive fan of Mcleod, done well for Crawley this year but he's a bit of a penalty king,I think about half his goals have been from the spot (could actually not be a bad thing considering how bad we are at them) his record from open play is about 13 goals in 47 games I think. As well as I don't his overall game is up to scratch either, he's the sort of player I could see us signing and flopping.

Someone in the mould of Mcdonald at wolves, best midfielder we played against last year.

Also shame we couldn't nab Paterson for a season loan from Forest

If Mowbray is here, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in for Ishmael Miller

The key is Tony Mowbray, he is a proper old fashioned football manager and will have spent the last few weeks doing his homework with the possee of contacts he has throughout the game agents, managers etc. He will know who he wants, who could be available, the type of player he wants and the approximate cost and will have told Waggott by now. Mowbray's teams play on the front foot with width and pace something we have lacked for seasons so who comes in will reflect that. It is over to Steve Waggott now to secure TM as manager, i worry about that to be honest

A penalty king? After this season, should we really be turning one of these down?

Haven't you just falling in your own trap? BRR put his name our there, I responded. Like you said that's what a forum is about?!

My points about names is just that, we've all heard of Jason Scotland, he played in the championship and PL, therefore must be a good player still ala Jackson, Pugh, tudgay, etc wasn't having a go at BRR, like NW said on another thread we need to stop judging players on what they've done 3-4 years ago.

I know to a lot of you it sounds mad as many hate him but I'd try and sign Gary Madine, I like him, good goal scorer.

Fact is Sisu will never give £2.5m in transfer funds.

It will be the same bull shit top 6 wage budget.

A lot needs to be sorted out decided on with current shower/squad of players plus TM has to commit. Therefore not much point thinking about this till June when we will know more hopefully and plenty more players will also be free agents. My one problem is people always trot out players who will either involve a sizeable transfer fee or high wages. People need to accept we are a league one club with league one funds. We will have to use the loan market well too. At least we kept up which is a huge reflief lets just enjoy the moment and a but of a break from it......I am sure Nouble will be relaxing......wooop wooop!

Wasn't that the budget given to SP this season? And he was reducing the squad bill down to that size? Just a guess from memory.
