Assuming Mowbray gets his 2.5 million, what good players should we sign?

Isn't it 2.5m wage budget not transfer budget? Would like 2.5m for transfers alone though!

With these owners, I can't help thinking your thread title should have been:

Realistic good and free signings.

Some good players look to be available on free this summer

Baker at MK Dons, may not be extended now they have been promoted
JET at Bristol, doesn't look like he's wanted
Williams and Foderingham at Swindon
Try and get Ward, Samuel and Pennington back on loan
Leon Clarke will be available

Wouldn't mind us having a sniff at some of the relegated players
Spencer at Notts County, Gwion Edwards at Crawley, Cox at Leyton Orient.

Probably not but can't see him doing much in the championship, will probably be extended and then loaned out when they realise he can't cut it in the championship.

Its unlikely we will get the 3 loaness back, so gone for......

Peter Clarke (out of contract at Blackpool), Mark Tierney (out of contract at bolton), David McGoldrick (out of contract and outof favour at Ipswich), Scott Loach (out of contract at Roterham), Jake Cassidy (out of contract at wolves), Kevin Foley (out of contract at Copenhagen), Lee Frecklington (out of contract at Rotherham)

------------------------------Loach--------------------------
Philips-------Clarke-----------------Johnson-----Tierney
---------Freckington----Fleck----Foley--------------------
----------Cassidy-------------------McGoldrick------------
-----------------------Tudgay-------------------------------

7 signings, with a few loans to be added

He couldn't cut it in League One with us but did ok with MK Dons. All about the players around you as well. I reckon he'll do better in the Championship with them than us.

No, he could definitely cut it in league one with us, 25 goals and numerous assists in two years shows that.

You think so
He was class for us In L1 Until two 20+goal season strikers walked away and weren't replaced
The whole squad Inc the manager underperformed as a result
Scapegoating Baker for the Ills of the Club was poor
Have him back in a heartbeat at this level IMO

It's a shame Cureton is ancient. He scores where ever he goes

I've always rated 10 Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro of Shrewsbury. If he's the same one who used to play for Tranmere.

Unlikely with Shrewsbury coming up though

DMC is injured not out of favour, he is one of their star players when fit so we have no chance.
Cassidy would require a fee still due to his age.
Good shouts for the rest of them- however If Clarke isn't wanted at blackpool do we really want him? Although good Exp pro to have.

If we have some money to spend (i know)

I would go for Jed Wallace at Pompy..

Exactly what we have been missing, an attacking midfielder

I think Tierney's just retired. Good call about Clarke. We need some pace up top and tuck Tudgay in behind. He was MOM today.

Mcgoldrick has been injured, not out of favour. He will almost certainly be signed by a good championship team or even a premier league side should he leave

Really? Where have you heard this.

If he goes on to score 10+ goals in the premier league, then fair play.

Personally, I think he will always be a good L1/average Championship player. Just my opinion though.

Anthony Gerrard from Huddersfield? Out of contract and a good player. No idea of how regularly he plays for Huddersfield though

Quite funny reading this thread. Most of those suggested aren't particularly realistic. Mcgoldrick a on about £20k per week at Ipswich. And the £2.5m is the wage budget not transfer kitty.
