What was he convicted of and how long was the sentence? For deportation it has to be a sentence of 12 months or more and on the list of offences in the Immigration Act. There's also a catch all for crimes that don't mean those conditions but where deportation would be 'conducive to the public good'.

Then you've got the minefield of refugee's rights, essentially you can't deport someone to a country where they will be in danger. Raises the issue of what do you do with people you consider a danger who aren't in prison for any specific offence.

It means it was a terror attack. Maybe you can fuck off and discuss it with dod on a politics forum?

Reading details now, police rugby tackling him to the ground.

Randomly stabbing in the neck and armpits.

I think our police deserve a lot more respect than the abuse we have seen the last few weeks. Chasing him while unarmed and taking him down.

Some bollocks to do that, wonder how many lives they saved.

Then they aren’t ISIS and aren’t terrorists.

Except they are.

We’re all animals mate. The world is a little more complex than goodies and baddies. Yes terrorist movements attract mentally unstable and otherwise fucked up individuals, it’s kinda hard to convince same people to go kill a bunch of people without a valid political cause. Palestine/NI slightly easier than ISIS so attract slightly saner people.

It’s not a video game where were trying to squash baddies until they’re all dead. Terrorists feed of humans failures and faulty thinking of which there’s an endless supply. If you just see them as cartoon monsters you’ll wonder why they keep spawning when you’ve killed them all.

It means, it was an act of terror.

Still, I'm sure you want to argue about semantics rather than talk about what happened.

Imagine going to sit in a park with your mates and your families getting a call to say you had been butchered.

The world is a fucking shit place.

Because it's not a terrorist attack is it. There is a definition of terrorism and not every knife attack falls into that category.
Forgive me but I'm not going to go around in circles with you on this basic fact.

Yes it is a terrorist attack and yes the police know more than you. As do we.

Assaulting a security guard with a broken bottle and belt, apparently. Also attacking an emergency services worker.

Also attacked a judge.

Lovely bloke. Put the c**t down.

That was entirely predictable and so was your faux outrage about me 'taking bets'.

You think that I didn't want it to be an act of terror? The bet thing was extremely poor taste. Can't believe you say otherwise.

One thing's for sure, if it is an act of terrorism you can bet it'll add another 50 pages to this thread.

I know I'm usually quite lefty but in these instances I'm more to the right. If you're given the right of asylum/refuge in this country it's with the implicit understanding you follow its laws. Failure to do so results in the automatic recinding of that right. If you're willing to break the law knowing it will result in you being sent back then you can't actually believe that you're in that much danger.

breaking the law doesn't result in the automatic recinding of that right though according to the law. Automatic deportation only happens when the offender has been given a custodial of 12 month or more.
Perhaps it needs changing so that it does. Especially in the event of a violence related offence.

It does need to be looked at but sensibly as we can't no matter what some people would like have minor traffic offences resulting deportation.

We have an immigration points system to come in, why not one for deportation? So even if someone constantly breaks the law but at a low level they still run the risk on a totting up basis. Any kind of physical assault or threat should be automatic. Theft should maybe be two strikes. Minor drug offences three. Minor driving offences maybe half a dozen.

Does anyone know the political persuasions of the people who were killed or injured?

Have petty, embarrassing arguments about something else please - not this
