Murphy- 6, makes saves moans alot, drama queen but still a good keeper
clarke- 5, really slow for a young lad, never looks fit, tried hard
hussey- 4, needs pulling out of the firing line, simply can't defend
wood- 4, had a really bad game, when needed was stuck in quick sand
edge- 4, very shaky
jennings- 5, tried hard
barton- 4, tart
kilbane- 6, worked hard, but doesnt inspire
baker- 5, cant fault effort but how bad technically can a pro footballer be?
Mcgoldrick- 7, very impressed, worked hard and has quality on ball
elliott- 7, looked dangerous throughout

was hard to watch, our inability to score the 2nd goal kills us, teams are gonna ruin us on the counter at home this year we must find a method of playing, we are so open

Murphy- 7, does little wrong imho
clarke- 6, suffers with delusions of grandeur, falling back to Earth in last few games
hussey- 6, positive response to being booed midweek. Better attacking and wasn't at fault for either goal
wood- 6, solid easily best defender
edge- 4, misses headers, miss kicks but still better than Brown. Bring back Cameron asap
jennings- 5, tried hard
barton- 4, disappeared after 25 mins
kilbane- 6, can't afford to play him with samey qualities Jennings
baker- 5, took every dead ball poorly and sent so many long passes to touch, miss hit shot
Mcgoldrick- 7, best player today imo
elliott- 7, looked dangerous in first half disappeared in second hence subbed

Shaw 4- , strange selection leaving Cody out. Should have taken off Barton 10 mins earlier poss wouldn't have conceded second goal. Too late to bolster forwards. Can't fire up his team :(

I think the system restricted the midfield, Jennings and Barton didn't look good at all at CM Kilbane and Baker weren't that good.

Defence was bad, Edj and Wood didn't look as good as Malaga and Wood, Hussey had a decent game, Clarke, responsible for their 2nd put in a great ball which Edj should've stuck away but didn't. He needs to buck up his ideas if he wants to stay in the first team! Especially as Christie is his deputy.

Overall, poor, from both sides, and we maybe should've won really.

Not todays game, I mean in the U21 game he was only on the pitch for 20 mins

Murphy- 6, is exposed by the defense and hoofs the ball too much
clarke- 5, needs to get match fit, got drawn in on first goal
hussey- 6, had good first half, ran at players looked like he was giving it some
wood- 5, not best game, didnt steady the ship at the back
edge- 4, hoofer, worst game since joining
jennings- 7, one of worst performances since joining but still looks calmer then rest, simple passing effective
barton- 4, needs match fitness and to get match sharp
kilbane- 5, not doing what he was brought here for
baker- 5, keeps putting effort in, needs to recreate brum game form
Mcgoldrick- 7, great touch, awesome goal, fear he will run himself ragged and get dragged down with rest
elliott- 7, chases a lot looks keen and dangerous

I think the balloon my little girl let go of with the helium in the 2nd half was the star!

Good start by City but instead of taking the game by the horns just got poorer the inability to break down Stevenage in the final third cost us, they had big lads at the back & we just pumped balls up for them to win & when we did get the ball in good wide areas the crosses were lacking quality. We are not use to winning games & the longer we stay in that rut we will struggle. Hopefully when interviews start next week we will find a experienced man with great motivational skills to steer us to safety

Murphy 6 - decent at this level. Better than their keeper who was arguably at fault with our goal.
Clarke 4 - too lightweight, not progressing
Wood 5 - disappointing, looked under pressure far too often
Edge 4 - poor distribution and positional sense
Hussey 5 - good going forward, poor at the back

Barton 2 - absolutely dire
Jennings 5 - committed but lacked quality, like a bull in a china shop
Kilbane 4 - off the pace and would expect more quality given his experience
Baker 5 - an individual and not a team player, no end result

Mcgoldrick 8 - a class apart, great goal
Elliott 5 - tried hard but faded, lacked quality

Ball 5 - made no impact
Cody 5 - made no impact but should start with McGoldrick

The front 2 put in a shift. Wood was the worst of the defenders and the whole of the midfield was very poor. Barton was the worst player on the pitch and I'm getting fed up with this match fitness excuse. We've played 8 games now plus training sessions etc. How long does it take? The whole of preseason is less than this. Do you think if he was that good Preston would have let him go. I think we've bought another Eion Jess, has ability but too light weight to make a regular impact.

poor with the initial shot? did you see the amount of power on the ball?

I thought Wood was our second least inept player today behind McGoldrick, but would appear to be in the minority. It was pretty much toss from front to back, to name more than one player who had a good game would be a similar process to the sprinkling of glitter on a turd.

I dont understand that either it was travelling!!! Not even Joe Hart would have taken that on the full.
I also think Jordan Clarke is taking a rather undue amount of shit today, yes he is lightweight but he won his fair share of headers and tackles plus his balls in are amongst the best in the squad and to say he is not progressing is harsh as well out of all the academy lads he seems the strongest and for me has the most potential.

It was a pretty routine save, it wasn't in the corner and he managed to get both hands to it easily.

He should have parried out wide but instead parried straight towards the penalty spot and into the players path for the follow up

I am not saying he should have caught it but he should have been able to parry it away from danger

Murphy 7 underated by our fans for some reason
Clarke 5 poor, Christie much better
Wood 5 average
Edge 6 paired with Malaga will be our best defenders
Hussey 6 played a lot better than in recent games
Jennings 6 does his job defensively, offers nothing going forward
Barton 5 decent first half, tired again second god only knows why he was marking their forward for the goal
Kilbane 4 retire now
Baker 5 the most inconsistent player ever
Mcgoldrick 8 ray of hope for this season
Elliott 7 decent hold up play, if we ever try to play passing football again we will get more out of him and cody

Subs
Cody-didn't have a sniff
Fatty-he is fat
Thomas-only good playing in defensive midfield

Murphy - 6 : Made a good save in the second half when the left back tried to chip him just prior to the goal but felt he could've parried the shot for the first goal wide instead of back into the middle of the area.
Clarke - 6 : Played ok with the ball at his feet and always seemed available but didn't do much with it.
Wood - 6 : Again played OK. Won alot of his battles but looked vulnerable when facing a quick break from Stevenage.
Edge - 5 : Thought he was a bit poor today. Won some battles again but some of his heading was wayward and too many aimless balls forward leading to giving possession away.
Hussey - 6 : Thought he played ok, some good use of the ball, cut inside their full back well a few times in dangerous positions and put in some 'ok' balls but we seem to lack real quality when crossing the ball.
Jennings - 5 : Gave the ball away a few times and left us very vulneable to the couner attack, which Stevenage did very welll. Knows when to give away a 'good foul' and take a booking for the team.
Barton - 4 : I like Barton but he was poor today. Think he should've been left out with the international duty/travelling/etc. played a major part in both of their goals (gave it away in the middle of the park for the first and lost his marker for the second)
Kilbane - 6 : Thought he played OK today, always available and played it simple. Pick of the midfielders for me today and involved in what little good build up play there was.
Baker - 4 : He looks like he can take players on with ease but doesn't seem to then have the pace/ability to get away form them. Seemed really short on confidence today and didn't do the simple stuff well. His choice of passing, both long and short was poor today which is a shame cause on his day he can make a difference.
McGoldrick - 8 : Thought he had a good game today. I know some might think an '8' might be generous given the result but he looked dangerous and a real handful. Great goal, looked strong and sometimes created space and danger from poor balls sent his way. They didn't seem to know how to play him and think he could be excellent alongside someone with a bit more nouse and quality and hope that if he keeps this up, we extend the loan or make a permanent move for him.
Elliott - 6 : Showed good movement but was too often left out wide. Too often we worked the ball out wide and there was no one in the box for the early ball meaning that they had plenty of time to regroup and get organised. Think McDonald may be a better foil for McGoldrick. Would work well in a front three.

Subs:
Thomas : Looked a little rusty when he came on understandably but could be a good player to have back over the next few weeks as he has quality on the ball.
McDonald : Think this substitution should have been made 10/15 minutes earlier as Elliott looked tired and we looked short of ideas.
Ball :not enough time to have an impact and a change out of desperation.
