Defence excellent.
Midfield very good.
Stikers still blowing hot air; getting better and causing consternation in the opposition defence but not there yet.

Lovely to win.

Collins 7
Van Ewijk 8 his best game for us
Thomas 7 shaky start but was great for the last hour
Kitching 7 looking solid
Bidwell 8 great running, some good delivery too
Sheaf 7 dominant but decision making in final 3rd could be better
Allen 7 tireless
O'Hare 8 just got that bit of class we've missed
Sakamoto 8 was excellent defensively and going forward showed that elusive final ball
Wright 7 constant threat
Simms 6 so needs a goal but let's keep him and Wright together

Overall, really good performance. Blues despite results are not terrible but we never looked like losing the game.

Was O'Hare playing as a 10, or in a three with license to get fwd more than the others?

It was more Sheaf playing holding with O’Hare and Allen ahead of him.

Collins 7 - Looked a bit shaky early on and some dodgy kicking, but got more assured. Phenomenal save at the end.
Van Ewijk 8 - Thought he was great. Got burned by their winger a couple of times, otherwise would be higher.
Thomas 7.5 - Started a bit sloppy, but got much much better. Looked solid by the end.
Kitching 8 - Another solid game, can barely think of much he did wrong.
Bidwell 8 - Really good performance again. Cannot understand for one minute why he was not in the team earlier in the season.
Allen 7.5 - A lot of other players will get more credit, but I thought he played well. Was everywhere.
Sheaf 7 - Defensively very good. Going forward absolutely dreadful.
Sakamoto 8.5 - Dropped him half a point just to let COH have man of the match. Amazing performance though. Works so hard too.
O’Hare 9 - What to say? Won us the game and delighted for him. He's a different player with that extra bit of end product.
Wright 7 - Some pretty desperate finishing I thought, but he did work hard and made some good opportunities.
Simms 7 - I thought he worked hard, but not surprising he has scored in only one game this season. Needs to keep working at it.

Robins 9 - Got the team right today, just makes the Ipswich selection more weird. No subs though? Mark down for that old boy!

Hopefully we can build something on the back of these games. If our strikers can click a bit more we'll be frightening. A good win!

If Eccles and Godden are available on Weds do we keep the same side? Didn't get to watch or listen. Sounds like a performance where you leave it as is.

I’d say 7’s all round apart from Allen, Wright, Sakamoto, Van Ewijk and O’Hare 8. For Brum 9 for Ruddy which says a lot.

Colin's 8
Mve 7
Thomas 7
Kitching 8
Bidwell 8
Shef 7
Allen 7 (they both played cleanup DM well)
O'Hare 10 not just the goals the passes defence splitting passes a joy to watch
Saka 9 again hard work covering mve but again the passes he and O'Hare made today if we had dembele (who looked pacy handful) the would have been more.
Wright 6 still needs a rocket up his ass. Watch back the second goal celebration him and Simms... where's the joy lads.
Simms5 for a big fella dosnt seam to want to be a target man. Not enough pace or drive to be a fw if we get another CF in can see a loan coming.

Agree largely with all this.

Marking you down a point for marking MR down a point for not making a sub though. I love the fact he didn’t make a sub, team playing well, everyone in the groove and knew their job, why change it. Fans always call for subs when they’re not needed.

Anyway, what a great win and great way to start the weekend. PUSB

Bidwell 6 ? , why ? He had 14 crosses tonight into the box , don’t remember him getting beat or doing anything badly . Personally had him as one of the better players on the pitch tonight

This may have something to do with him being on the opposite end of the pitch to me first half.

Collins 7

Mixed game - clean sheet but some of his kicking all over the show but a good bowl out for the second goal and good tip over near the end.

MVE 8

Getting better every game and has found a good understanding with Tats. Great bit of play for the second goal. He got the better of their tricky winger and charged back when needed. Great stuff.

Thomas 6

Bit of a clogger at times and looked a bit slow on the turn. Average display on the whole.

Kitching 7

Unfussy, did his job, measured, disciplined, kept his man quiet - good.

Bidwell 8

Better this season than last by a long way. Seems a yard quicker and some of his crosses excellent.

Sheaf 7

Assured, some classy passes, some great interceptions but that tiny lack of confidence just to have a crack. Everywhere. A good 7, not far off an 8

Allen 8

Box to box energy and effort. Top draw.

Tats 9

Brilliant play and got back well to cover. He’s a gem isn’t he.

O’Hare 9

Loses a mark for doing that “phone me” thing when he scored the first. Why do that? Other than that, did brilliantly with the goals. Happy he’s back and hope he stays.

Sims 6

Needs to give himself a shake - low on confidence and just fell on his arse when given a golden chance just prior to the second goal. Couple of surging runs.

Wright?

Blah blah blah “he’ll be brilliant” - ok. Tonight, he showed a couple of flashes but at the rest of the time - sorry - he was underwhelming at best. Clumsy fouls, wrong side of defender when played to him. Frustrating. 5. Sorry.

Bidwell 7: A step up from JDS.
Kitch 7
Thomas 7
MVE 7.5: He is very good defensively.
Sheaf 7
Allen 7
O'Hare 10: He was exceptional. Two goals, especially the second, were brilliant. To be running around at full pelt after a horrid injury is so impressive. That's the O'Hare of old with the addition of two goals.
Moto 8: Felt like we were shoehorning him in early doors but now we are building around him. He's a very good footballer and a joy to watch.
Simms 6: O'Hare is now level on goals with him. Like with Haji, I'm desperate for them both to come good but they look clunky on the ball, not particularly quick and very poor in the final third. We get the ball in good positions every game and we just don't punish teams.
Haji 7: Slightly better than Simms but much of the above. He's not great with the ball at his feel but awkwardly causes problems. He's had some good chances again.

It was enjoyable, as it always is playing Birmingham in recent years. They were absolutely horrendous. Somehow worse than Millwall were. They'll be in big trouble if they keep with Rooney. Toxic atmosphere in their end.
