Definitely judge him thrown in at the deep end against a premier league team alongside other squad members who aren’t regular starters.

We are judging him off the 8 months he’s been here.

He’s hardly played any football since coming here in summer. Been injured and not really played games with the 1st team. Let’s not write him off as he’s very well thought of in training.

Absolutely.

The time will probably come when - due to injuries, loss of form or player sales - he will get a run of games.

Don’t even think of judging him before then.

Stick the kid in the u21s until he builds up a jordan ponticelli like cult following then unleash him on Crawley town in the cup bag a couple and we will see him at Tamworth in 5 years

There is already a cult that are repeating the notion he is fantastic in training based off absolutely nothing

going by what Lampard thinks of him, we’ll see him a lot more next season, he’s getting more and more minutes, looks decent, better on the right though

Agreed and his sub appearances

Cardiff - 1 minute
Swansea - 1 minute
Leeds - 6 minutes
Sheff wed - 15 mins
Ipswich - 15 mins.

Given his injury/fitness issue I don't think we can judge him until next season. Lampard obviously sees something in him as he keeps giving him little cameos.

I did notice him sprint across the edge of the box to chase a loose ball yesterday and he surprised me with how quick he was. He did a couple of things yesterday that show that he has something but he will need more game time to be judged.

Without comparing him to gyokeres, because it's ridiculous but he reminds me of gyokeres on loan where sometimes it looked like he's got his shoes on the wrong feet

Few times Rapha yesterday had the ball and nearly fell over it and just ran into people blindly. I'm not impressed from what I've seen but I'm not short sighted enough to write him off.

He'll need alot of time though.

Guys, people were writing EMC off earlier in the season when he obviously wasn't fully match fit and was being used out of position. Now he's the new Ronaldo on here.

Realistically Raphael is one for next season, it looks like he's being given a very slow introduction, and he's shown little bits of quality, he's fast and has quick feet, but unless we find ourselves 3-0 up at half time in a game, I wouldn't expect to see much of him till next season.

Interesting that he got the nod from the bench on that left hand side over Bassette against Leeds as well.

Think Lampard does seem the rate Raphael, but he's going to get even less chances once Wright and Mason-Clark are back

Think we brought him in as cover on the right, he’s totally right footed, lampard said he’s a great signing by the club, one for next season

I think he might be ok. He just needs to adapt to how little time you get on the ball at this level. 10-15 mins here and there will help him

Always good to hear about that mentality seems to have the same as Norman, thats what we want players that are hungry and passionate willing to get on the pitch and show their talent

Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course, but he could of played two lots of 90 minutes in the last week.

We wouldn't of been any worse off.

Or loaned out where he's not risking our results by being played regularly. However I'd argue training with players like wright, emc will be beneficial

Just very raw, naive and not used to the physicality of the league yet.

It’s great he wants to take people on and try and drive forward, but he’ll need more in his arsenal to succeed doing in doing that. He loves a heavy touch too.

All things that will improve with experience and top coaching.

If we could be 4-0 up ho,ho, and bossing a game, I would like to see him given a good 30 mins to see how he gets on.

Yet another lesson for some not to write young players off early in their careers?

It was only one game of course, but on that evidence I think he's earned the right to be backup RW.

Could be a useful weapon off the bench.

Nice to see a player just run at defenders, nice and direct.

Really impressed with him, plenty of potential there , encouraged for him and us.

To say when Sakamoto come on we looked worse down the wing says alot.

Was pretty good on the left wing as well as on the right but more dangerous on the right with his runs going inside.
He was involved in several of the goals (albeit one a Bristol OG) during the friendlies too.

I'm going to say he will displace Saka as first choice RW by the end of the season.

Great run and pass for the goal, looks a threat , Commentary last night suggested he would be a threat as an impact sub .
And whoever called him Sweaty Raphael in the match thread deserves a gold star

He had a good game last night but I have my doubts still, there was loads of space out there that he wouldn't get in the league and he seemed to struggle in tight spaces.
