Not sure if it applies in this instance, but listened to an interview years ago with some football recruitment boffin. He said that if, by 8 games, they’re not delivering a point a game (i.e. 8 points) they’ll never get up to standard and you should just get rid before wasting more time and money.

I suppose when you put it like that I can see the angle. I'm not sure what Russell Slade accumulated in his first 8 games, but if I remember it was a shitty start.
