Question about Digital Tickets

Apologies for what might be a stupid question.

I am a season ticket holder and will be away for the Espanyol match. However, I've used my reference to buy a ticket for a mate.

The confirmation email I got said the ticket will be emailed to the assigned person (me) and can only be downloaded once.

So my question is, if I simply just forward the email (when I get it), to my friend, can he just download it to his phone and everything be all dandy?

I am still not sure how these digital tickets that you put in an ewallet are expected to work, aren't they supposed to be non transferable.

I'm sure it's easy enough to load one to a wallet on a phone and present it at the turnstile but what I don't know is if that ties your id to that wallet so if you pass it on to a mate that might cause you a problem.

It's all a mystery to me, can anyone shed some light on this?

Given that last season they had to give a step by step guide to how to use the ticket scanners pretty sure they'll put something out when they send out the tickets.

Sure whatever they do it will still be chaos. Not really sure why we have so many problems when this sort of thing is common these days.

Just looking at some of their premier league clients, (I know some of their non premier league clients use physical cards and I suspect if you checked it would be quite a high percentage of them), and it seems most operate some sort of digital transfer mechanism to allow tickets to be transferred for individual games.

OK by way of example: Villa have an App. Newcastle aswell. It seems straightforward but here’s what I looked at. Who knows if this is how we will do it?

Sounds like Villa and Newcastle both have sensible methods for re-assigning a ticket if you need to do it. Hopefully we'll do something similar.

Every PL club I looked into, (about 8), does something similar.
There's is some issue ongoing at man u and there are ST holders having STs withdrawn but not sure of the exact reasoning behind it

Transferring tickets is 100% possible both on the entry system we use and on the ticketmaster system we sell the tickets on. In fact the ticketmaster side is probably more important because the entry system will just scan a valid ticket, there won't be any concept on that side of it being the 'right' person.

Ticketmaster at other venues and events actively encourage you to transfer tickets. They will often send all ticket in an order to the lead booker and leave it for them to transfer to the individual attendees.

So from a technology point of view it's entirely possible, from a Premier League point of view it is clearly within the digital ticketing rules as other clubs have it. Which means it will be entirely down to whether we enable it or not.

Well if we don't, it'll just encourage people to try and work around it with nonsense like burner phones

I suspect that it will be relatively easy to transfer a ticket, once the season is underway.

However, there is a £5 “processing” fee payable to Ticketmaster.

Bet King has an eye on what is happening at Man Utd where they're currently in the process of banning, seemingly hundreds, of decades long season ticket holders for similar.

Obviously we don't have their level of demand but I think people should be wary of thinking that breaking the rules, and posting about it on a public forum, will be risk free.
