Apparently we left it too late to get the tickets sent up to our ticket office then sent out to the supporter and QPR don't have the facilities for 1,000 people collecting them at Loftus Road.

Our ticket office has been very poor this summer. I'm glad they're hiring more support there.

Madness isn’t it, fucking Uber the tickets up for £500 and say they’re available from the ticket office collection only

it’s like we don’t want to get fans down there.

How much money do we make off away tickets?

None so the idea of paying for them to be shipped up same day for 500 quid for a team ran on a shoestring sounds silly really.

£500 to increase the away fans by 50% when it’s such a big part of our performances. For a club who pulls in over £6m a year.

It’s a joke and suggesting that’s silly is nonsense

Why else wouldn't they do it though? Has to be a financial one. I don't buy into the theroy of they don't care or can't be arsed so what other reason for not doing it your way could there be?

Don't we get a small percentage to cover administration?

Uber? Seems a bit extreme, probably just put them on the team bus myself.

Someone's already mentioned about QPR having the capacity to distribute them on the day being the issue.

We could have done a pick up at our ticket office/shop upto Friday evening or something? Seems like Cov didn't want to commit to buying the tickets (and costs around extra stewards opening Jew blocks, if this is a thing the away team are involved it?) And have them go unsold.

Because we have the administration of a Mickey mouse organisation, we've cut to the bone, and are no longer efficient.

We could of put on extra coaches, and literally handed out the tickets as you boarded the coach, how fucking difficult can it be?

The whole process seems ridiculously archaic. Why aren’t they on sale or return it’s not like QPR are going to sell them if we don’t take them. This whole “they didn’t ask for more tickets” makes no sense for either club. Just give them the full allocation and let them sell what they can.

I dont understand it at all.

If it is a ticket processing thing from our side, surely the club could take on a couple of 16 year olds part time to help. Throw in free entry to home games there's got to be a few interested, I know I would've been!

You’d be able to courier them for a lot less than that

Are there penalties if some are returned unsold?

I dont understand why the physical tickets need to be sent and why it cant be done electronically.

Issue tickets as a PDF to be printed or shown on your mobile phone.

The club could have an app with a ticket wallet. Any tickets purchased home or away could be viewed on that.

That is what happens with most concerts I go to now.

I was under the impression, city had to buy them up front? That's why the commit in batches rather than the max. I'm not sure where I've got that from though

They could for home games. But it's down to the home teams ticketing system, if QPR dont have the facilities to scan or verify in another way etickets cov can't do anything about it.

I agree though it's something that should happen across the board

Yeah exactly. And tbf we didn't sell out our first away game in in over a season at Barnsley so you have to appreciate the club not gambling on this one (if they do have to pay up front like we've said).

Yeah but fuck it, just gamble and hope for the best innit? Just £30k in an extra thousand tickets that might not get sold.

What revenue do we get for our away tickets? 25%? If it's a 100% penalty for any unsold, you can understand why the club don't ask for a full allocation instantly.

Though I must say it was fairly obvious that we could shift 4-5k for this one.

It does come across as poor on our part. While I appreciate the club don't get funds from away tickets, the extra 1,000 fans could have been a real boon to the team, at a time when the bond between supporters and players has rarely been bettered. It seems like in terms of staffing behind the scenes we have remained at a League 2 shoestring level, and unless that is improved there are likely to be similar issues with future away games, and maybe even home games should the team continue its upwards momentum and our support continues to increase.

How did we manage to sell 8-10k tickets for MK when playing in L2 but can’t sort 3k tickets in the Championship?

Always felt the revenue from away sales should be split more evenly between the clubs. Seems like a lot of work for a club to help their fans go to away games for little benefit. What's the point of a club having a massive away following if they get very little from it financially?

So they get better support at the game. Statistically you're still more likely to lose an away game and your fans will almost certainly be outnumbered (even though away fans tend to make more noise).

If you think about it you take a huge following to away games you're effectively giving your rivals in the league money to compete against you.

Bit of a silly statement, particularly for a club like us where for our home games it's been known that the away attendees form a large % of the overall attendance, and pay a higher price on average than home attendees.

Edit: So a bit of Googling later and looks like the home side keeps all ticket revenue (unless it's a cup game), so even less incentive for the away side to go out of their way to organise/sell additional allocations.

No money to be made hence us not wanting to take much risk financially. Staff can then focus on match packages, season tickets, JSBs and single home match tickets which make US money.

Hows it not obvious that is the crux of it?

We sold 2k for this game in 3.5 days...To season ticket holders only.

I think we sold 1.5 k in a day. Surely they knew we could shift 800 more in a whole week before the game even if there's a cut off for postage.

It's just fairer isn't it though. If a club takes loads of away fans they get nothing financially from that. It asks the question why go to away games when you're just giving money to your rivals? You can talk about the support they give but then why not practically give tickets away for home games to get more support? Because it's not economically sensible to do so. Selling tickets to away games doesn't make economic sense either.

If those away fans didn't go the host club would get nothing. Both clubs will incur admin costs from selling/distributing tickets but the home club should get a bit more because of costs of stewarding etc at the game so say a 60:40 split.
