So Leviticus is a book about the rules for a group of people who lived thousands of years ago and I believe there is some merit in reading and thinking about those peoples understanding of god but as for following their instruction it’s about as much use as arguing over what a batch is called

1 Corinthians is more interesting as a letter from a church leader to a city much like our own apart from size and thousands of years of understanding. You can see though how Paul’s understanding of god has clearly evolved in the thousands of years since Leviticus

Much of that list most of us would say there’s a moral and a criminal bar that it’s unwise to cross for our own safety and others safety and it’s certainly not a measure of how gay someone is. Is the point Paul is trying to make is that we all come under the list? I know I have and do. And if so what’s the solution? For Paul and for many it’s acknowledging our wrong and relying on Gods mercy. For many it’s ignoring their wrong and judging others on things they don’t personally struggle with

The final one revelation. It’s a dream and a bloody scary one written down. I’m not convinced the things john dreamt are going to happen but it’s still wise to think about what’s written. Again the list covers many of us and where it doesn’t what would we want to happen to rapists and murderers. Should they get off Scott free? Does justice need to be seen to be done. Again this isn’t about gay people the sexually immoral term could incorporate a whole lot of us. Criminally and morally. And the solution isn’t anything goes or nothing goes except if you’re rich or powerful

The Christian answer is that god loves us so much that he wants us to experience lift in all its fullness. Some strands believe that is by picking on minority groups and saying they are wrong other strands look at how Jesus lived in the gospels and try and embody his example of love grace forgiveness peace joy etc etc

Qatar can do what they want. However the majority of human beings think to treat someone differently because of who they are attracted to is stupid and thick and wrong

Thanks for the well thought out detailed response - genuinely. I don’t mean to be at all offensive, I was raised a Roman Catholic and come from a long line of Irish catholics. I do however disagree entirely with the entire sentiment of your response where you are trying to claim it’s not condemned in the bible. The bible condemns homosexuality quite a few times and that’s that - as much as the quran does. The difference is that there are countries such as Qatar where the religious ideologies are implemented into law.

Personally think nearly all religion is poison and the world would be a much better place without any of it

Howler of a tournament already

No one gives a fuck and just wants it over for the club football to resume.

Should never have been given the tournament and the incoming shitshow will be karma for FIFA

I think I’m saying pretty much everything is condemned and therefore how do we make sense of what’s being said?
I think the jury is very much out on the world being a better place with or without religion.
It would certainly be a better place without humans

If I had paid to go out there and they turn around a few days before the first game and say there would be no booze at the stadium, I would want a refund out of principal. Not because someone is going to die because you can't get a pint, but because it's just a complete joke. This must have been the plan all along.

A seriously embarrassing tournament before it has even started. I went to Qatar in 2018 and they were all so excited about this and thought it was going to be their chance to become a new Dubai, and that everyone would want to go there following. At this rate it is going to be the opposite.

I think anyone that has paid to go, after the party line for several years being that even though it is in the middle east, it will still be a normal tournament experience, has a right to feel pissed off. I would never go personally, but if you had done, then there is an argument to say you've been mis-sold.
