I don't see what other tenants there can be. I've been told by people on both sides of the SISU / GH divide that the ground isn't viable without the club playing there. I haven't seen anything to persaude me otherwise, put simply without the £1.2m per year ACL is immediately in a critical financial state, and there are no potential revenue sources that could replace CCFC.

Further, if CCFC leaves, they may lose secondary benefits of other tenants who are independent of the club, but are drawn to the ground because of CCFC e.g. the hotel, casino etc.

I was thinking earlier that we could put up some temp stands at the Butts, take it up to 10k...SISU could then wave bye bye to ACL and keep the fans on-side at the same time, whilst getting rid of the rent and ground costs!!

thats the challenge for ACL isnt it ..... searching out the alternatives. When the stadium started CCFC accounted for 85% of the income now it accounts for less than 15% if the reports from ACL are to be believed. That would seem to be a track record of divergence and finding alternatives that has been very successful.

Also i think you have to ask why SISU or GH would say the stadium is entirely dependent on CCFC for its success....... makes a big statement about the importance of the club particularly to fans and potential investors, but is it true now or is it that it was true 6 years ago ? It suits SISU to portray ACL as weak, to put pressure on ACL - would be cheaper to buy for starters. As for GH he hasnt been involved at CCFc or partnered to ACL in years how would he know ?

The point is the arena is not all about playing football, there are many events there and the two things holding that side of the business back is the lack of a station and sufficient hotel accommodation. Both of those issues are being addressed...... which will help marginalise further the League 1 club housed there. It could have been different but that required success on the pitch not 3rd division struggling football.

If the 1.2m is so important then given the club now owes £1m plus ACL should be going bust ? It isnt. If ACL built new hotel rooms say in the gym (happened), got a train station in the next 18 months(happened), maybe took longer to repay its loans(ie dropped the amount paid out each year)- possible i dont know if done, maybe even approached one of its major shareholders for an interim loan - might be possible........... does the situation still look so bad for ACL

But you have to ask if you were the board of ACL .......... would you sit back and let this happen do nothing or could you see it coming and make plans to lessen the blow ?

They have a decent stand alone one side which can fit in 3k. They could get in other temp stands ala Blackpool, with some standing, and get to 10k - with the right Health and Safety certificate an FA approval to move, it would in many ways be SISU's ideal solution.

The Ricoh won't get demolished, so will always be there should be climb back up the leagues. Meanwhile SISU cut their costs and get the fans back onside for bringing the club back to the city centre.

would require planning permission including car parking ....... obtainable from the council. not sure they would like the idea ............. and ccfc would have to break their lease at the ricoh leaving them liable to millions more than the annual rent. Also think Cov Rugby club might have something to say about it

It won't get a Safety Certificate - it's a dump. No parking facilities either. Not a prayer of ever happening - thank God.

Oh yeah, because SISU are really sticking to the terms of the Ricoh lease right now, aren't they....rugby club could do with the income.

I don't really think it will happen either, but wouldn't be surprised to see SISU making noises about it to call ACL's bluff

Not that I am too sure about the idea, as one of the few decent things associated with CCFC is an impressive stadium. However would the skydome and that car park adjacent in the ring road provide parking. I would imagine there would be a lot less need for parking like there was at highfield road.

Surely we would need 20 k seats what with all the fans that would return to watch us playing in the city centre

This is the realms of fantasy and delusion. It's not ever going to happen. The place is not ever going to be League Standard and no-one would agree it anyway.

A pointless discussion.

Planning regs require that a stadium has to have a certain number of parking spaces don.............. you can only get three stands at the Butts because railway too close so some of the parking there would be lost if stands put up so wont comply with planning regs.

technically cj they havent broken the lease because they are still in talks about it .......... but if they left the stadium they would be in breach and financially liable for the remaining years on the lease to the extent the only way out would be to liquidate the club.

Do the rugby club own it or rent it ? if they pay rent how would they benefit ?

Well we re debating putting Joy and Tim on trial, and it suddenly morphed into "can we move to the Butts?"

Both are pointless. They are individuals - you don't put individuals on trial for a bad debt. Sepella isn't even on the board is she?

As to the Butts it comes up now and again and is an impossibility. The only possibility (not that it will ever happen) is to agree a share with a club already that has approved certificates - Leicester, Walsall etc.

That's that then. It is nice hearing other fans shocked when they see the Ricoh. At least we have something to be proud of. Even if it is as a tax payer rather than a fan.

given the the last 5 years from about 20,000 to now about 9, 000 the fall in gate numbers should see us get to low enough to fill the butts as it is now

Alternatives For ACL.The huge space underneath the pitch which IOC were origonally going to occupy could possibly convert to house a basketball /ice hockey team. they could utilise the Jaguar hall more frequently and compete with Birmingam + Nottingham putting on successful bands 3-4 nights a week and pitchside hold religious Jamborees like back in the day like Highfield Rd.

agreed there are plenty of alternatives for ACL , the only differnce is they have to continually look for them whereas with CCFC it's a , was going to say , guaranteed income, but hey ho whats a million quid between friends and prospective partners.

Well individuals can be prosecuted if they are held responsible for the companies they manage/own. And we're not talking about bad debts as such, more about contempt of court, which, if proven, can lead to a jail sentence - hopefully that would focus Fisher's mind on whether to mess ACL around or not.
