As for biggest club. Who in the top likely 6 is bigger? Only Sheff. Utd can compete on that level and are not currently near the top 6.

In what respect? So we will be favourites in the play offs because we will have the biggest attendance and therefore the 12th man?

If being the biggest club in the play offs is so much of an advantage sheff United would have been promoted years ago. You earn the right to go up by winning games not on how many (missing) supporters you have and what you may have won/done 15+ years ago. In the last 5 years the team with the largest fanbase or "biggest" club hasn't been promoted via the play offs.

2014/15
Highest attendance - Sheff United 19.8k
Promoted - PNE 11k
2013/14
Highest attendance - PNE 10.8k
Promoted - Rotherham 8.4k
2012/13
Highest attendance - Sheffield United 20.8k
Promoted - Yeovil 4k
2011/12
Highest attendance- sheff Utd 18.7k
Promoted - huddlesfield 14.1k
2010/11
Highest attendance - huddlesfield 13.7k
Promoted - Peterborough 6.4k

it could make a thrilling end of season , what a refreshing change

Would be nice to have a nail biting end to the season where we're not trying to stay out of the relegation zone and have a chance of going up.

Spin it anyway you like Stu but it is what it is. I'm not saying the larger club has any right in fact I've said Burton will go up! They had around 4k at their last home game. The fact is the bigger the crowd and noise generated in support of your club often helps. Why ele do managers always ask for support and talk of the crowd being like a 12th man, even players say it. No point arguing it because you want to spin it to suit your own point.

Just looking at our fixtures and the next 5-6 are all very winnable. Obviously we won't win them all, but if we could stay unbeaten that would be great. The bigger picture if that happens is that a lot of the teams up there are playing each other over the next few weeks. Could be a very exciting end to the season.

The bookies have us favourites to win the playoffs. 4/1
My dad first took me and my brother to Highfield rd in the mid 70s,he was a good man

lets just win a few games on the bounce first. Then we can see how it unfolds.
Totally agree London we can day dream as much as we like and God knows we deserve to after all the rubbish we have gone through. I actually had a Villa fan say he now knows how we feel (empathy) However let's put another unbeaten run together and see what comes out of the wash PUSB come on the "Old Five"

God damn it Otis I seen the spelling error and dived back in to edit it and you still caught it. Come to think of it getting promoted would probably make the sentence look acceptable:p

We will lose a few and draw a few with some of those being surprises no doubt but overall we have a very big task to make it. We must win all our remaining home games bar a draw or two at worse with a surprise away win where not expected to offset those surprises.

People look at the table and think we can close the gap despite running fast out of games. But let's follow your assumption:

We will lose a few - say 3. Draw a few - say 3. That's 3 points from 6 adding to our current tally gives us 54pts from 37 games.
That leaves us with 9 games to get 36 points to end in top 2. Not possible.

I honestly can't see us reach the top 2.
Burton and Wigan will go up automatically - I hope (and have a kind of a bet on) we get to Wembley.

I think the way teams can take points off each other, 3 or 4 teams are in with a decent shout at automatic promotion. I hope we're in that mix but think the next 3 games will go a long way to seeing if we are over our 'slump' and if we win 2 out 3 of them then we will be in the autos spots easily. As I've said on the other thread, I'd love Millwall in the playoff final, what a day that would be!

I have stated we will make the play off's. I agree the second spot is most likely a bridge too far. But as stated elsewhere Derby looked runaway leaders last year and collapsed late on. I don't believe Burton will. They seem to have a strong core to their team and have pretty much led from the front all season. It would require them to collapse. Wigan have improved but as we have seen they also drop points unexpectedly. I think we may be better equipped than most for the run in.
What the poll demonstrates is the vast majority expect the play off's which is a far cry from days of the recent past!

If we draw 3 more games and lose 3, that gives us 55 from 37 not 54
Add 36 points as in your post = 91. But 85 might be enough this year, it's happened before. Win one of those 3 you have down as losses and we could do it

Burton and Wigan in the autos for me. Both teams got belief and the "winning mentality" running through there squads. Plus Wigan are on a great run, and recruited well. Good job we played them early doors. Wigan away will be a massive one for us fans to roar us on. I'm confident we're on for the play offs, we've brought in well over the last few weeks, defence looks like it's got options now and stronger. Should the worst thing happen and arma gets a knock, Henderson is a experienced campaigner who will link up play giving Murphy or Maddison options. Today's results went for us too, gillingham are loosing momentum every couple of games, Walsall too. A run is vital in the next few games. But believe lads, could be far worse.

Still believe we will get in the autos, we will need to achieve max points against Gills and Wigan though.

Play-offs are more likely but I'm still believing we can do it!

Would need probably 93 points to get automatics that would mean dropping only 4 points in last 15 games - plays offs if they can build on last weeks 6-0

36 divided by 3 is 12

I can't see it being 93. Really can't. This season everyone apart from Burton is dropping points here and there.

I would reckon 86 or 87 could be enough for an automatic place myself.

If we replicated our pre-December form from now until the end of the season how many points would we have? Does anyone know?

Maths not your strong point then? ;)

Can still do that with a calculator, just about, but I'm still trying to work out the context, i.e. why he decided to tell me that 36 divided by 3 is 12 lol.

Think someone, maybe you suggested we could get 36 points from 9 games

OK I get it now, my maths was actually correct. 15 games, draw 3 lose 3 win 9 = 82, then I suggested if we won one more we could still make 85. My quoting the 36 points the poster said we needed was badly worded, (which in fairness he did say was not possible from 9 games)

I predict we will finish the season on 76 points
