It really is a disgrace. I hope Chelsea and Potter do very badly and I will be cheering for most teams they play against.

While Brighton have gone under the radar and picked up a couple of future big money sales I guess.

It's not just the amount they spent - it's who they've spent it on. Buying individuals, not building a team/squad.

You look at some of the signings and just think, why? You got plenty of decent players already playing there.

Very bizarre and has vibes of the owner being a kid in a sweetshop wanting all the fancy looking treats.

It’s the complete opposite of how Potter would want to recruit.

Whilst I hate Newcastle/Saudi Arabia United their approach of gradual improvement is surely going to be more successful than Chelsea's. Having a massive squad of players with big egos is likely to lead to disharmony on a big scale. Potter should have stayed at Brighton.

I'm not sure how much input, if any, Potter has on the signings they made. I think he said something along these lines after they had bought a player at the start of the transfer window. Surely the manager has some say in players bought!?

I really think it depends on the club.

Traditionally we'd expect a manager to be largely in control of signings, given that he's going to be in charge of team tactics during games.

But with an increasing number of foreign owners, they think of it more as them just being there as a coach and it's up to them to do the best with whatever players the director of football, or in some cases the owner, gives them.

Personally I think it's mad and if I were in charge of a club I would have the manager as having final say over any transfers. I wouldn't even begin negotiations for a player without the manager saying it was OK.

Looks like Forest are trying to break the record for most signings in a season, 3 in on deadline day and a free agent in today.

Everton have done fairly well so far, created some really good chances.

Bad defending by Arsenal more interested in stopping the man jumping than jumping.

That Maupay is dangerous unfortunately mainly for his own team.

That was absolutely embarrassing from him there. Clearly trying to get Zinchenko in trouble. What a weapon.

Dyche in, McNeil assists Tarkowski, 1-0. Brexit ball is back.
Seriously though I really don't want Man City to win the league but this has start of an Arsenal bottle job written all over it.

Have had Ramsdale, Gabriel and Saliba in my FPL side pretty much from the start and they contrive to bottle it against Everton. Typical

Amazing what a new manager bounce can do sometimes. Everton were only going one way before today. Looked like a completely different team. Big question is if they can keep that up. Reckon they'll beat Liverpool next game.

Watching the Everton game, I think questions need to start being asked of players "throwing" games.

Absolute shite all season, then the same team turn over arguably the best team in league currently.

I know motivation/moral goes a long way, but this losing to get the manager sacked culture stinks. Man U have been the same last few years.

Maybe but this is a change of management style in this case. Sometimes got to work hard before you start playing pretty football. Watched a few Arsenal games this season and teams have been sitting off them, letting them play

Yeah I get that, Everton pressed very well.

But does this mean players are mindless and can only do what the manager tells them to do?
