DoD answered above and it looks like there's a bit of a getting the fans on side excersise ftom the new owners going on but that seems to be turning their nose up at a lot of cash

Strikes me as a wildly expensive solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist.

The rumoured plans for the old ground, are that the capacity will be reduced via getting rid of all the obstructed areas, in the old stands, the ones behind and alongside the old pillars. Plus there`s a lot of uncomfortable seating areas, at the back of the Gwladys St stand and both of the Bullens Road stands - the angle that you sit at and being so far back makes it very difficult too see the pitch and made worse by all of the pillars too. These areas will all be modernised and upgraded, as will all the hospitality areas and toilets.

Basically, bringing it into the 21st Century and making it more family friendly.

Apart from the womens team playing there, it`ll become a community hub for the many Everton In the Community Teams and also be used for things like non pro football finals, youth games and disabled football groups too.

It`s a smart move ( imo ) as although the area is pretty grotty, there will always be the residual value of the land to the likes of housing developers if the owners ever decide to sell it off.

Didn't Liverpool get rid of a load of local residents to expand their stadium?
I suppose its good PR for Everton to actually give something back to the area if so.

The reason I was up their recently was for a birthday weekend, and while I would exactly call what's happening gentrification it's certainly improving.

I'd assume a lot of the air b n bs popping up (and there's lots of them) are to accommodate tourists to Anfield, how many of those sort of supporters go to watch Everton?

Liverpool paid them off and in fairness gave them above market value for their houses and helped them move too.

You`re spot on about the air bnbs, as they are for all the footy tourists who visit Anfield. A few do make it over Everton ( you can spot them a mile off, as they`re quite often wearing scarves from both teams !

The area around Anfileld has changed beyond recognition over the past few years, as it was one of the " whitest " areas in the city. It`s now like the League of Nations, with scumbag landlords cramming asylum seekers into two up two downs.

As much as Liverpool are the " glamour " club, the poverty around the ground is truly shocking and I`m really surprised that LFC haven`t got involved in some kind of urban regeneration of the area, like Man City have, as it`s 100% one of the most run down areas of the city.

There`s no way on earth I`d venture out at night, if I was a tourist footy fan in an Air bnb around there !

I heard somebody moaning earlier that the ladies team won’t get to play in the new arena and the added capacity and then said they get around 2k fans per game. The cynic in me thinks separate the clubs out show it can’t survive and then get rid of the ladies team.

Did I hear that right? It's a feather in Arteta's cap for Arsenal to finish as runners up three years in a row?

Fair play to the guy, that's some achievement and a great record to have.
Undoubtedly your best ever signing and a bargain at the price.
He could still do a job for you in the Championship, and I think you'll miss him, as you don't seem to have much else up front. In fact I was suprised you let Tom Cannon go, especially knowing Vardy was leaving.

Thought Cannon looked good for us but he hasn’t done much with the Blades. Long spiral slope for us now whereas you guys are on the up.

The six minute VAR check on the West Ham-Forest game was a disgrace.

We're better off out of it.
