That's 8 to have a squad of 22 and 2 players in each position. Which we have found in the past is not a deep enough squad to stay up in divisions.

So 11 to have a squad of 25. Which will still be thin possibly too thin but should stay up.

I think we are due a bit of good news re the stadium but we need to get our feelings out there about how may signings are needed if it happens.

SISU or new owners need to know 11 is minimum not a pipe dream.

Don't worry, there's going to be a statement tomorrow by Andy Thorn, he's going to reveal his summer targets and announce the players that have already agreed to sign.

Yeah right.

I wouldnt class Cameron, Christie and Clarke as 'senior' pro's tommy, they are all still young and learning their trade, hence why I left them off that list.

Cranie???

we definitely a couple more experienced heads to bring the young talent on we already have in the club coming through the academy

My list is if as I think we all know will happen, cranie Keogh, Bigi, mcpake and rod go. Mcpake and rod are a maybe in my book. The others are a cert.

I think someone will get half the stadium in a few weeks. A condition of this is that they need to make the team competitive.

I think it is our job as fans to pre empt this and somehow get it out there that competitive means 11 signings. Anything else is a breach of the deal.
whilst the deal is been made and people are inserting clauses they need to understand this.

Unfortunately on paper 11 new signings sounds like the pipe dream request of some unrealistic fan.

However when we look at the facts it actually is the minimum required to make us competitive.

The question is how fo we get this info out there?

I get what you mean, but Cameron has been in the first team for two years and Clarke for more.

Yep - they may have been in and around the first team for a couple of years but in terms of footballing experience have both started less than a seasons worth of games Clarke 37 starts and Cameron 33 starts, I just don't class 20 year olds with limited playing experience as senior pro's.

When we got promotion in 1962 and 1967 and won the cup in 1987 i bet we never used 16 players in any of those seasons

If the players we expect to leave were to go tonight and the season were to start tomorrow the side would be something like this;

Murphy
Clarke--Cameron--Willis--Hussey
Deegan
Bell--Baker
Thomas
McDonald--McSheffrey

Subs; Dunn, Christie, Ruffles, Jeffers, Sky Blue Sam

Either we're well and truly screwed or something incredible has to happen over the next few weeks.

When you see it like this you realise just how small the squad could be within the next few weeks.

Leaving out players likely/rumoured to leave (Keogh, Cranie, Bigi, McPake, ROD, Wood), and the youngsters (under 21 - Clarke, Jeffers, Cameron, Christie, Thomas), we would have this:

Joe Murphy
Chris Hussey
David Bell
Carl Baker
Gary McSheffrey
Gary Deegan
Chris Dunn
Cody McDonald

9 Players!

That is exactly what I said yesterday...25 experienced players.... one player cover for every position, and three universal players(Who can play all positions.)....This is bare minimum:D

Murphy
Clarke - Has had a long term injury
Cameron missed the last few months of last season
Willis
Hussey - another long term injury a few seasons back

Bell sick note
Deegan - has an awful injury record
Thomas
Baker - missed quite a bit with injury

Cody - missed a large chunk of last year injured
Sheff missed the last part of the previous season cos injured

That XI would rarely remain fit.

I make it 7 players have left since last season - Clingan, Eastwood, Platt, Nimely, Norwood, Herman and Ireland. I also expect at least five more departures before the start of next season - Bigi, Keogh, Cranie, Wood and McPake. With as many as 12 players leaving an already threadbare squad and all quality being removed (with the possible exception of McSheffrey) we have to have 10-12 new experienced players minimum before the start of the season. Anything less and we cease to be a viable football club.

I wish that SISU would get their act into gear and decide what they want to do with the club, that way we can move forward and have a chance of rebuilding the club to the standard the city deserves

IMO its actually a very good team, a squad should be 25-30 players so what will the squad be if the embargo is in place?

It's a decent side, but for most games, take out 3-4 players with injuries. Suddenly, we're easy pickings.

Murphy - Had to be substituted with injury twice
Clarke - Has had a long term injury
Cameron missed the last few months of last season
Willis
Hussey - another long term injury a few seasons back -carried a knock for 3 months and missed a month this season

Bell sick note
Deegan - has an awful injury record
Thomas - had a knock in pre-season and one after Xmas that kept him out for a while
Baker - missed quite a bit with injury

Cody - missed a large chunk of last year injured
Sheff missed the last part of the previous season cos injured -Joe Elliott told my brother 18 months ago "his knees gone, he can only perform at peak fitness for 2-3 months a season now"

That XI would rarely remain fit.

Added the extra bits you missed/didn't know. This is without considering burnout, as hit all the kids this season, or in Thorn Speak, "His stats are way down on what they were".

The fixture list's due out soon-and before we know it August will be here. We need to hit the ground running and the longer the nonsense at the top drags on, the more likely we are to start half ready and unprepared.

Still got a feeling something will happen within 14 days. But feel we need to get it out there that when it does, we need 11 signings. Anything else is not competitive.

How do we get it out there. I have let Mr Mutton know my view.

Can you speak to Andy Turner BSB or has that relationship soured?
