POSSIBLE EXPERIENCED MANAGER - Billy Davies ??? (9 Viewers)

Before you all descend on me for being disrespectful to AT a lot of posts have suggested we need an experienced manager to improve our current form.

I acknowledge that funds are CURRENTLY not available for this to happen but surely SISU must now take drastic steps to halt this headlong rush to the third division AND and take this club seriously.

IF that that were to happen I would seriously consider BILLY DAVIES for that role as he has an outstanding CV in our league:

2005 - PNE Runners Up
2006 - PNE Semi Finals
2007 - Derby Promoted to Prem
2010 - Forest Semi Finals
2011 - Forest Semi Finals

6 x Manager of Month Awards

PNE - 45 Wins in 101 games
Derby - 31 Wins in 69 games
Forest - 53 Wins in 126 games

Total WIN % for the above three clubs 43% which is considerably better than AT @ 13% !!! and also surpassess the previous three managers of CCFC

Please don't start World War 3 on this one - let us have constructive debate about our beloved CCFC and offer any alternative within the remit of this thread.

Exactly. He bitched non-stop at Forest for not having enough funds to be competitive. He was moaning constantly that he needed more money to strenthen the squad-even after spending 2m on a RB and have Konchesky on loan from Liverpool at LB! Frankly, he'd just end up giving Ken a Glasgow Kiss during the interview.

Not having a go Johnnie, but he's kinda the opposite to the sort of manager we need to get us out of this. We need one who can do it on absolutely zilch transfer funds, not one who needs gadzillions. Someone who works in the lower leagues maybe-a Keith Hill type. And he's had loads of grief. Mark Robins is more likely, and he failed at Barnsley.

Good manager but moaned at Forest's board for not supplying enough funds even after making a lot of good (and no doubt expensive) signings.

BD would be my first choice!! He is a proven manager and should not have been sacked by Derby IMO!

Billy Davies? :facepalm::facepalm:

Always bemoaned the fact he has needed more money after being given really healthy transfer budgets.

Billy Davis is one man I would go for, he has an outstanding record at this level, but share the concerns of others regarding funding. However many a forest fan wish they had never got rid of him. I think AT will be with us until the end of the season, still feel he has been shit on

Being able to extract money from owners for players is as important part of the job as coaching players in my opinion.................

can't see how thorn has anychance of doing this anymore

1) if he turned up at a sisu board meeting and asked for more money to sign a forward, the first point i'd expect them to make is "we gave you money in the last transfer window and you bought a forward you don't play".
2) also we are paying a forward called F Eastwood a fortune and you don't play him either...........jog on

If we get a new manager, we need thorn to stay at this club, ass manager, or back to his old job.

Davis is a moaning prima donna always blaming all around him - spends money like water and then always demands more - can see him and ken getting on well. One name that might suit us is the probably soon to be free Eric Black - might accept a job from a board that will lie to you, won't back you, will sell your players from under you and then stab you in the back. Has been here before and under mcginnity has already experienced this. And will be cheap so will suit ken down to the ground.

is that the same eric black who masterminded the defeat at colchester where we were so bad the club sent me a free ticket to the next match because we were so bad?

Or the same Eric Black that produced these results?

17/01/2004 15:00 A Walsall FC 6:1
21/02/2004 15:00 A Wimbledon FC 3:0
13/03/2004 15:00 H Burnley FC 4:0
17/03/2004 19:45 H Preston North End 4:1
10/04/2004 15:00 H Millwall FC 4:0
01/05/2004 15:00 A Gillingham FC 5:2

Scored 6 once, 5 once and 4 3 times. Yes, that Eric Black. You tell me one time since then where we have produced results like that!!

Eric Black was in charge for 20 games - won 9 drew 3 lost 8 - think we would be more than happy with that record this season. Won 5-2 at Gillingham and took us close to play-offs and then McIniity sacked him to bring in monkey head - another great Chairmans decision. He had us playing exciting attacking football but the gin hound wanted a big name to boost his ego. A Chairman with an ego too big for the good of the club - oh how some things never change at Cov.

Still find it astonishing that people slate Eric Black. Yes he had some bad results, but the great results were really great and he was building something here. We played fast attacking football and really put teams to the sword. You think of the players he had to work with (McAllister's cast offs) and what he achieved, it was really quite remarkable.

We did get bullied out of games at times, but this is something Black had identified and he had said he was going to address this in the Summer. Unfortunately that year Summer was cancelled.

I remember coming back from Gillingham full of happiness and hope for the next season, really thought we were on the brink of something special with a young manager, an experienced number 2 in Archie Knox and a brand of fast attacking football but oh no tosser McGinnity decided to feed his own ego. The day we sacked Black was the only time in my life I have felt ashamed to be a City fan and for that I will never forgive the baboon's arse for a nose Baggies fan.

I remember being absolutely dumbfounded and there just being swathes of letters into the Telegraph talking about the madness of it all.

Ashbyjan, i couldnt have put it better.

This man bitched at Forest at lack of funds, and at Derby, and yet spent probably more in a couple of seasons than we have since relegation. A prima donna we could do without who would spend more time at odds with the numbnuts running the club than sorting out the uselss pile of toss we have on the pitch.

I just want a manager who knows what they are doing, and can motivate the players, and has a plan B, so clearly its not Thorn.

As has been said before, Thorn is doing the best he can do. It's just that his best is not enough for us though and to have any chance whatsoever of getting out of this mess we do need a better manager.

Have always stuck by him and he's a decent bloke and all that, but now I am convinced he is not up to the job. Either bring someone else in alongside him or replace him with someone better.

I put all those results down to Archie Knox myself.

To quote Asbyjan

"Davis is a moaning prima donna always blaming all around him - spends money like water and then always demands more"

I couldn't agree more,

yes if we had money he might be a good bet, but as this is the real world , who in their right mind would want to come to a club that can't afford to even pay for a loan player ( gardener is free) and has to rely on a least 3 to 4 youth players in their first team.

You would mad to take this job or just a hopeless chancer

Controversial idea, but bear with me...we should stick with Thorn even if we go down. Chopping and changing managers year in / year out has got us into the mess we are in right now. What the squad needs is continuity, and the club needs a manager with a long-term opportunity to create the team of his visions. Most of the players currently were not handpicked by Thorn, he needs to build his own team and that means up to 5 years in the job. We lost 10 players in the summer (if you include Turner and Eastwood) and the squad is taking time to gel together and find new leaders - it will be painful but the result could well be a great improvement on where we are now!! What have we got to lose?

If we listen to people like you we will be playing Bedworth in 5 years time and losing!

Or we might be back in the Premiership with a successful team, there are no certainties in football.
