The first of those was a fairly open game where he had space to control the ball, look up and move forward. He is very good at that, usually.
The second game they had a low block, no space, tight on him. He struggles physically and mentally with that.
We need to get the ball forward to him much more quickly, even try more long balls. If we build at a snails pace he will struggle against decent teams.
We were very predicatable too with everything nearly always building (very slowly) on the right. Our MF can't seem to find a way through, except Sheaf who always seems to find his brother in row 63.

Id still like to see him and emc rotate LW and leave striker to bta and Simms but lampard thinks different and hopefully he smashes it down the middle consistently

Limit him to 30 minutes maximum a game until he’s fit.

He should have came on at LW today

He's gonna throw away the opportunity of a lifetime to play for his home country in a home tournament.

Let’s be honest he just wasn’t fit today.

m the fact we felt the need to bring him on was the more concerning hing

You can’t play Wright as a lone striker.
I just put this on the match thread.

I dont think he can play CF. I would put him on the left or you have to move him on and reinvest in a CF and a back up to EMC

Hadji Wright looked ok to be fair, the sharpness will come. We just need a diff option as him and Simms are too alike.
I feel we need a pacy striker who can run through the lines rather than just relying on crosses.

Is this going to be the season for Haji Wright to have his best figures?

There’s been some negativity amongst us including myself, but ultimately the lad is our best finisher at the club by a country mile.

Been criticism of his form last season and especially in the play-offs, but if he stays clear of injuries this season he could have his best season with us? He really was hampered by the 2 injuries. Hopefully he’s in the clear.

Best goals p90 in the Championship last season by players who are still in the competition.

🥇 Tyrese Campbell - 0.57
🥈 Haji Wright - 0.55
🥉 Josh Sargent - 0.54

Key is to keep him fit and he could hit 20+ goals.
Im sure his improved recent form has absolutely nothing to do with the world cup being in America next summer.

But it could certainly help us get promoted.

Could be part of it sure. I also think him getting more familiar with the rigors of football in England has helped also. Right now the depth chart for next Summer for the USA is very strong in terms of striker:

Sargent
Haji
Pepi
Agyemang
Balogun

Really not a lot between any of the above.

What about martial law,any chance of flies in the ointment, I'd doubt it with the governing body myself, but if they send troops in to keep the peace that wouldn't be a particularly nice backdrop to the competition?

Well yeah with who our leader is, nothing is for sure haha smh. I hope to get to a USA game if all goes well, but sure ticket prices will be astronomical.

He stays fit and bangs in 20+ for the promotion winning team, surely he's ahead of Sargent going in to the WC?
