Thorn starts the first half with Joe Murphy in goal for the Sky Blues behind a back four of Jordan Clarke, Richard Wood, Reece Brown and Kevin Kilbane.

City will play four across the pitch in diamond with new signing Adam Barton and Carl Baker on the flanks, Billy Daniels in a holding role with Gary McSheffrey playing behind front two Callum Ball and Stephen Elliott Elliott who makes his first start for City since injuring his shoulder in the Sky Blues' friendly 8-0 win over Hinckley Utd.

The second half will see Murphy retain his place in goal behind a back four of Joe Pegg, William Edjenguele, Kevin Malaga and Joe Henderson.

Trialist Steven Jennings takes up the midfield holding role, flanked by Roy O'Donovan and Will Roberts with Cody McDonald partnering second trialist Peter Poloskei upfront.

No Bell, Hussey, Cameron, Thomas,Fleck, Jeffers

Just shows how stronger our squad is to last season. We can swap nearly the whole team and still not use good players.

second half team looks weaker IMO without Fleck, with only about 3 players who you could definitely say will be in the first team

Hussey not being there is a concern

Why is it that every time we dont play a player, people imply he is off!! can we not just be happy we are at least building something, and only deal with facts when they happen please!!

he's the only player that is in the 1st team squad of 30 or so, who isnt injured and hasnt featured in the past 2 games, but actually with today as a game of 2 halves, its really the last 3 games...

i think we have reason to believe there maybe something in the london rumours

Wood and Cody did not feature much earlier, and a few on here were virually packing there bags for em! I doubt he is a major earner, so cant see the logic in off loading him IMO

Thanks for the team info ccfcway nice to see Jennings and Podolski playing!

Not the best game yet then I take it?

Anyone worried we aren't playing our first team yet getting them gelled / winning?

Elliott seems to have had a good start to this match so far.
This is from the live commentary :

20 mins - Great move from City. Elliott shows his pace to wrestle the ball from Adam Yates near the Vale area, he cuts back to Bartoin in space, he takes a touch but Neal makes the save.

23 mins - Elliott tries from distance and Neal does well to get down low and parry the ball away from danger

25 mins - Great cross from Baker and Elliott heads inches over. Great move.

27 mins - Great recovering tackle from Reece Brown. Quick thinking keeps Williams at bay

32 mins - Vincent goes close for Vale, pushing his shot just wide of Murphy's far post

39 mins - Stephen Elliott looking really sharp. Just played a lovely one-two with McSheffrey

43 mins - GOAL 1-0! Superb strike from McSheffrey from bout 25 yards, too much for the fingertips of Neal

HT City 1-0 up.

2nd half will be interesting with the Frenchies, Jennings and this trialist, although ROD and Jeffers in midfield can't be good.
