Of course what he did was absolutely shocking, but we need a goalscorer at this level, and he fits the bill so I would personally sign him

For as long as his conviction stands I'm totally against.

If the conviction is quashed at a later date that would be a different matter.

Interesting thet the Telegraph, Smithers et al have remained silent on the issue.

Even if this conviction is quashed what about his previous 12? The guy is a born criminal etc and shouldnt rehabilitate at our club

i don't know if anything like this is possible, but how about signing him and sticking a behavioural clause in his contract i.e. if he is summoned to court for any offence during his time at the club we have the option to immediately cancel his contract.
It would ensure that he keeps on the straight and narrow as well as possibly pleasing some of the fans that are unsure about him because of his past. I think it would work for him as he could really prove to people that he has rehabilitated himself even by agreeing to such a clause.

I believe he has to sign the sex offenders register, this would preclude him from working with children - there are a lot of children around a football club.
