Football family – let’s help one of our own ❤️⚽

Hi everyone,

I hope it’s okay to share this here.

I’m posting about Carol, a genuinely lovely woman connected to the Bristol City community. She’s been a voluntary steward at the club – one of those people who just gives her time to help others without ever asking for anything in return.

I only know Carol and her family through my dad and my 90-year-old granny, but they’ve always spoken so warmly about her. She even once brought my granny a thoughtful gift – warm base layers for winter – completely out of kindness.

Sadly, Carol has recently suffered a stroke, and her family are now trying to raise £5,500 to adapt her home so she can leave hospital and get back where she belongs.

Football is a special kind of family. And sometimes, small gestures from people who are able to help can go a very long way – more than people often realise.

There’s absolutely no pressure at all – but if anyone can spare even a little, or share the link, it would mean a great deal to them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this ❤️

Cheers All,
Tom
And congratulations on a superb season! Good luck for the run in and next year 🤝

Seems a bit scammy “my house may need some adjustments or home help” so just asking for five grand on the off chance?

If your disabled and need adjustments your council should be able to help: Disabled Facilities Grants

Hiya,

I was really disappointed too about the lack of help, but as they're homeowners it appears that they're not entitled to any help.

The main part of the bill is to build a downstairs wet room for her.

There's also a post about it on OTIB if that provides any further verification for you (appreciate again, it's just a public forum). We're contacting the club to see whether it's at all possible to have it on the official site.

Thanks

Thank you for the link - I've just checked the eligibility which does state includes homeowners, and will get this across immediately to Dad and Andy, though I assure you he's been told he didn't qualify for support.

No worries and this is what I pay my taxes for so I hope support is available. But equally I’m always wary of gofundmes as there’s no controls on them or what the money is used for and we aren’t American and have a health service.
