Anyone who isn't old enough to have seen Boateng play for us and just knows he's an ex city player who went to Villa.........please don't go booing him tomorrow.

This guy was absolute quality ......one of the best midfielders i've seen play for us.

Fair enough if you like him, but no ones really in any position to say whether we can or cant boo someone.

Didnt he say before he left us he wanted to move away from the area......then appear 20 odd miles down the road?? In claret n blue?

Reason for booing i reckon!

Nah, I won't boo him. I hated him a bit when he left, but not like I did Dion. I'll cheer him at K.O.

All my booing will be directed at the match officials and SISU, as usual.

He was a cracking player for city. There were those 2 goals against Villa and I seem to remember a great diving header which was the winner against Liverpool. One of my favourite players back then - was sorry to see him go

Alright all - first time poster on here.

I've noticed this thread and I can't help but recall a rumour that was going around Hampton in Arden at the time (where Boateng lived). I was told by a couple of people that he was shagging Paul Telfer's wife - hence Strachan instigated the transfer to Villa after learning of their interest for, as you can imagine, Boateng wouldnt have been particularly popular in the dressing room if true! If anything as well, the random nature to the rumour seemed to give it a bit of credibility!

I also remember Telfer hacking Boateng down with a shocking challenge on his return to HR when we beat them 2-1 with Keano scoring the winner. Not that this confirms the accuracy rumour of course - but it's just something that seemed all the more significant given what I was told.

As for Boateng the player, he was a brilliant for us for a while but then fell out of form somewhat. I think we bought him for about £250k and sold him for £5m so certainly a fair bit of business!

I thought he was great but his career never really took off. I suspect Gunnarson will have a very similar career - excellent in his youth but ultimately a bit of a Premier League / Championshiop journeyman.

I won't boo him, I never did with Dion. He was a fantastic player for us and so what if he joined a better club offering a better salary?

That first half season he was with us he absolutely incredible!!! We looked like we would beat anyone in that period! I think the following season about 3/4's of the new shirts sold had his name on the back! He never quite him that form again though and Strachan ended up wasting him on the wing!!!

I had more of an axe to grind with Dion for tapping Boateng up.
I remember Telfers "Tackle" on Boateng, nearly cut him clean in half at the waist!

I agree. First season I thought he was the best midfield player we EVER had (and I do not do hyperbole). It never was sustained though.

He was incredible! Just loved him. Saw the Villa team at Birmingham airport that summer he left, couldn't bring myself to look at him. I was so gutted when he left (although everyon'e right that he wasn't as good in that 2nd season, he was still good though!)

It didn't help that he was mainly shoved out on the wing in that second season! But I do have many fond memories of "The Beast"
One of my favourite memories is his goal celebration at Villa... Hand on chin hip hop pose! Brilliant! Shame he didn't get more caps for Holland!

I remember his post match comments in the telegraph after we beat Villa with ole broken neck Dublin being booed,He said he hoped when he left Cov (which he said he would) he wouldn't be booed then he was touted....I say boo the judas.
I don't subscribe to the shagging myth as he's a religious tit

He was the type of player who always gave his all.

I loved him as a sky-blue

Would never boo him and would be surprised to hear any Cov fans boo him tomorrow.

So all good players should never leave us and tell the board to f**k *ff I am not going when the board wants to sell them?

Won't ever boo him at all myself. Don't think anyone will boo him today either. Last I heard he was out with an ankle injury

I remember that it was Huckerby with Telfer's missus - not GB - Telfer caught him out - which isn't surprising as Hucks never understood the OFFSide rule!!
