No-one has stated that.
However, his support for such a poor decision, must surely be questioned....or are we not allowed to do that, and just accept shite decisions?
As an aside, what did you think when you heard that Bell had signed a 4-year extension? Chuffed to bits, took a day off work and got lashed?
He must be on at least £5k (I've heard £8k, but only heard that so can't prove it)....good use of money when we are up shit creek?
I think the fact that David Bell played in less than half of the games in a season where our squad is so thin shows that Thorn didn't rate him at Championship level.
You know how the saying goes, actions speak louder than words unless they are Andy Thorn's words. :thinking about:

No he has been replaced with..............................
I'd rather have a vacancy in the team than a player who isn't interested in any shape or form!
Yes, Dongy...but get the RIGHT ones to commit, not players who every CCFC fan I know, to a man/woman, agree is an utter waste of space....
fair point, I just hope against hope. He takes on a sense of responsibility as a senior pro (like fatswood didn't), has an injury free season and performs in this division like he did for Luton.
If I was honest and we could free up Bell's wages and sign two free transfer midfielders, then I would take it.
However I don't trust our owners, so I take it as a small mercy that he is still here. As oppose to the fact a championship club wont even bid 100k for him!
He had a few injuries but a lot of the time he was just not selected. The only injury news I can find about him for last season was he missed 6 games near the end of the season between March and April.Wasn't he injured though?

Carl Baker missed 4 weeks at the start of the season when he was injured vs Ipswich and then missed a further 5 weeks when he was injured at the end of last season and yet he still started more games than Bell
My opinion is no - Dulieu was so arrogant that he wouldn't stoop to talk to someone like Thorn - it was purely a financial decision. Where AT is culpable is jumping up and down with glee like a little girl saying what a great deal it is for the club etc. If he had a backbone he would have just either said nothing or been more non commital. I have yet to talk to any City fan who thinks these were good deals - Bell £6.5k a week in the 3rd Division is simply madness. I was told that some of the new comtracts did have a wage cut in event of relegation but don't know if that applied to Bell and Baker.
Nah Bell had lots of little niggly injuries he missed 8 games in march apr though injury - palace home, birmingham home, watford and cardiff away, portsmouth home, hull away, peterborough home, and bristol city away. He also missed the last with injury - doncaster home and southampton away. He also missed cardiff home, west ham home and brighton away through injury in November and also palace away when Bigi, Thomas and ruffels all played, So that's at least 14 he missed through injury and he was in the match day squad 32 times (20 start, 9 sub, 3 unused sub) so that's only 2 games not accounted for:
Southampton fa cup - Jeffers and ruffels were on the bench and we only named 6 subs so bell must have been injured
Leeds at home - again ruffels is on the bench so bell must have been injured

So we've signed an injury prone player for another 4 years...an even worse situation!
A shit player who plays around 40% of games and has a strike ratio of 6 goals in 3 and a half years...or one every 15 games. Fucking waste of space.
Stats;
169 - Games available to play in since signing on January 2009
71 - Starts
20 - Sub appearances
6 - Goals
£1.3 million - wages paid
£18,000 - per game started
£20,000+ - per goal scored
And folk wonder why we are where we are.....

Yes, but Makele was a holding midfielder, Bell is supposed to be much more atatcking/creative....so your example is flawed.
I'll give you a more startling example...a fully fledged defender...Richard Wood.
He has scored the same number of goals as Bell(end)....6...in 76 starts and 12 sub appearances.
That's less 'pitch time' than 'quality Belly'.

He only scored 17 in 224 games prior to signing for us so his strike rate has hardly dropped now has it? It's not as if he was a prolific goalscoring midfielder when we signed him!
