…didn’t Dion play for England (or at least make the squad) when he was still with us?

Yep - He and Michael Owen made their debuts starting up front for England in a friendly at Wembley against Chile.
0-2 defeat and a sublime goal scored by Salas for Chile.

Harry Pollitt was manager of Coventry City from 1919-20 and the leader of the British Communist party 1929-39 and 1941-60.

If he’d had his way we would be playing in an all red home strip now.

Certainly wouldn't be paying the current prices and I suspect there wouldn't be half the innovations and the jazzed up stuff for TV!
Make's you think doesn't it.

The really bad news is that Harry Pollitt was drummed out of football after his Coventry side were found to have bribed Bury with £200 to “go easy on them” as they attempted to fight ‘re-election’ in their first season in the football league. After beating Bury 2-1, City finished third from bottom and didn’t have to seek re-election. Three years later the FA fined both clubs for fixing the match and Pollitt was banned from football for life.

The ‘Bury scandal’ ended up being his Peter Swan song then.

Ah! I was gonna say! I googled both and couldn’t find a connection but the same man’s (the communist man) picture came up.
Less interesting. Although I’m not sure I knew much about the Bury Scandal.
