I thought Kelly was the best player on the pitch by some distance

Willis deserved his man of the match award, thought he really handled Cook well. The others who stood out were Baka, Hiwula, Thomas, Bright and Sterling.

Bright pissed me off, yeah he got a pen but he should have just tapped the ball in first time.

He tries to do way too much but then lays it off instead of having a shot when he does get in a good position.

Bright is a frustrating player, a couple of times he had space to move forward with the ball, but he chose not to.

Willis was good, not quite sure he was MOTM. All played well, nice to have a solid keeper behind the back. Defence were great. Midfield solid and Baka and Jordi immense. Nice to have a comfortable win for a change

Baka, Hiwula, Willis 8
Everyone else 7
If give Motm to Hiwula. Looked dangerous when he got in the box. Generally played his position better than of late. Their goalie made a great save to stop him getting a second.

Bakayoko MOTM for me. A striker who can actually win headers.

Team were solid throughout. Referee was a bit random with his decision making today. Good win sets us up nicely to have a free shot at Luton on Sunday. next week.

Stockdale 7 shows Burge what he needs to do
Sterling 7 good game solid
Willis 8 very good
Hyam 8 another good game
Mason 7 did well going forward
Thomas 6 thought he want interested for chunks of the game today.
Kelly 7 solid
Bayliss 7 thought was much better than in recent weeks
Bright 7 loads of skill but wants to beat the same player twice or hold the ball too long.
Baka 8 thought he had a really good game best so far
Hiwula 8 really good game good goal looked very lively

Luckily for Bright his penalty will overlook that miss that he put in the stands!

Hiwula looked more threatening, he was going on either his left or right so they didn't know what to expect. I think half the time he doesn't know either.

Kelly makes the team work. Leader, does all the graft to let the forwards stay up the pitch. Makes great interceptions, lifts players around him. Reminds me of Safri in the way you sometimes don’t notice him because he’s ahead of the game so never needs to do anything spectacular. No idea how he managed to get relegated with Orient.

Bayliss tired a bit but he got targeted as well but took it well.

They set out just to kick, not even properly though just snidey.

When I do my ratings later Thomas will be docked a point for not giving their Left Back a lesson. He looked about 40 and ran funny.

8s all round but 8.5 for Baka - won so much in the air and led the line well. Great goal, loved the celebration and thank God JCH gone so we can see more Baka. God I hate Walsall, sweet win.

Ref was still a bell-end though

I seem to have watched a slightly different game to some people, but Walsall were so bad and toothless that it’s hard to judge performances.

Stockdale –6 Barely called into action, but took high balls convincingly
Sterling –7 Has grown into this league and rarely looks like being beaten
Willis –7 Dealt well with their minimal threat, distribution not great
Hyam –7 Barely noticed him, which in a defender is a good thing I guess
Mason –6 Energetic enough and positive, but wish his final ball was better
Thomas –6 Not quite sparkling the way he did a few months back
Kelly –7 I really rate him, and a good display today but I’ve seen better from him
Bayliss –6 Played well enough in his distinctive style, but not much real penetration
Enobokhare –8 His ability to carry the ball stands out (horrible miss though!)
Bakayoko –8 Liked the way he led the line today
Hiwula –6 I like him, but he still seems like a misfit to me when played wide

Stockdale 7 - Didn’t really have much to do but did the basics well
Sterling 7.5 - Great cross for the assist and got up the pitch well
Willis 8 - Didn’t really put a foot wrong
Hyam 8 - Thought he was dominant today, won the majority of headers
Mason - 6 Was OK but nothing spectacular, often tried to dance through players when it wasn’t necessary
Kelly - 8.5 Great performance. Gave the ball away once or twice but dictated the midfield in large periods.
Bayliss - 6.5 He was better today. He still makes regular mistakes but his movement was good and he made some good touches
Thomas - 6 Really thought he was poor first half. Not necessarily his fault as he was completely bullied for the majority but came alive in second half hence the rating
Bright - 6.5 Takes far too many touches, was very lucky the Walsall player went through him for the penalty, should’ve taken it first time.
Hiwula - 7.5 Worked his socks off today and looked a real handful. Great take for the goal.
Bakayoko - 8 Gave him an 8 because of how much he’s improved. He actually looks like a proper CF now. Held up the ball well, was laying it off effectively and did a couple of threatening flick ons

Baka MOTM. Had a very good game as the central striker pivot. Proved a few Walsall fans wrong today.
Build this lads confidence up and he's going to be a tidy player at this level.

Stockdale-7 Does all the things Burge doesn’t do. Breeds confidence into his defence.
Sterling-7 One of his quieter games but a great assist for the first.
Hyam-7 Solid as usual
Willis-8 Handled Cook very well. Need him to sign a new contract.
Mason-6 Feel like the teams good performance masks his poor one. Very limited going forward with his crossing but solid defensively.
Thomas-7 One of his quieter games like Sterling. Not as effective as usual, better second half. Just scraped a 7.
Kelly-8 Really coming to the fore now. Bossing the midfield on a regular basis, just hope he stays injury free.
Bayliss-7 Some nice touches, gives the ball away sometimes but that’s to be expected.
Bright-6 Can tell he’s gonna be very frustrating to watch. Some nice runs but very little end product. Holds on to the ball for far too long sometimes.
Hiwula-7.5 Good finish for the 2nd. Drifts in and out of the game, seemed to have more confidence in front of goal today.
Baka-8 Won a lot of flick ons and a great header for the goal. Just hope that he hasnt turned it on for his old team and he can deliver that type of performance consistently.

Everyone played well today I felt bayliss was not his usual self maybe due to Walsall physical presence in midfield...

11/10 for David Meyler tho giving my son his shirt as he walked up the tunnel
