Wouldn't go that far, first 10-15 he was shocking. Then he got lots of time on the ball and got forward but his decision making was a bit dodgy but he seemed to be our main outlet and had a good spell.

His fitness is really bad.

As I said in another thread only his 2nd league match and in a higher standard. Not bad to get MoM when he’s still only building match fitness

All is an when he came on was held, pushed and fouled constantly and to make judgement on his 10 minutes was impossible to do! When Grimmer was marauding down the wing not one midfielder moved over to cover him! Which meant he was constantly sprinting up and down and blowing out of his arse

Probably the free header in the middle of the goal about 10 yards out.

6 yards out and it was Doyle that miss was unforgivable

Doyle was poor today, when he gave the ball away he kept blaming other players

Header 6 yards out or was that someone else? Looked like JCH to me but I was in block 14 at the other end of the pitch.

I initially thought it was JCH but everyone around me said it was Doyle. Just watched the highlights on Sky Sports News and it was JCH but I can see why people think it was Doyle. He was directly behind/next to JCH and walked away from the crime scene as if it was him. Watch carefully on the highlights

Like I said, watch the highlights, then think about watching it in real time, 100 meters away, without the camera zoom or privilage of rewinding it and see how the mistake was made. Not just by people around me, but other people on this thread who also thought it was Doyle, smart arse!!!

P.S. I've met JCH, and black and tattooed he may be, but 6 foot plus he most Definately isn't. He's 5.11 tops I'd say as an estimate. So ner ner ner ner ner.

Burge 7 Couple of important saves and decent handling.
Grimmer 7 Did have a good game but choose the wrong option on a couple of occasions. Can see why he got man of the match.
Mason 7 See Grimmer but on the opposite side!
Willis 6 Went about his business in the usual manner.
Hyam 7 Calm on the ball.
Andreu 4 Apart from 1 shot in the first half not much else.
Doyle 4 Why does he need to get involved in every free kick? Took a quick one on the edge of our area in the second half to Bayliss? who wasn’t expecting it and nearly cost us a goal. Passing also amiss. His game was summed up when Mason took a throw and Doyle’s pass back to him went out for a throw.
Bayliss 6 Ok and at least tried to make things happen.
Shipley 4 Not sure what he offered today.
JCH 6 Again good performance on the whole but gets 6 for chances missed.
Thomas 6 Again a threat but missed chances-our Ryan Kent maybe for this season.
Subs-Chaplin 5 buzzer around.
Bakayoko 4 Not much chance or time to make an impact/impression.
Allisani 4 Poor cameo. Thought he might have gave us a spark.

Robins 7 Can’t say the team didn’t play well first half and still creative a couple of chances 2nd half. Not the managers fault that we missed the target all the time.

Very little in it between the ratings of Bakayoko, Allassani and Shipley.
Maybe I was a bit silly to give him a 1, but anyone to come on and either do nothing or be poor at what they do generally get a poor rating. I get he doesn't want the ball in the air, but failing to even bother to jump is so frustrating.

I said in the other thread, Chaplin, who is (one foot!) smaller than Bakayoko, made more of an effort to win the ball in the air.

I'd absolutely love him to turn it around, but there is absolutely nothing to suggest he will. Unlike McNulty, he has no positive feedback from previous clubs. Even Biamou had more to go off from.

Clearly you have selective vision! Baka won two balls in the air and made an attempt to win a number of aimless punts. He doesn’t look very convincing while he’s doing it but he does it nevertheless

Burge: 6 - A great save in the first half, didn't think he did much wrong
Grimmer: 6 - I loved watching him bomb up the wing, deserved a goal
Hyam: 5 At fault for the goal
Willis: 6 - did well against Andrews in the first half, didn't do much wrong
Mason: 7 - Love him
Doyle: 6 - I thought he was decent and their was naivety around him which made him look average. .
Bayliss: 6 - Strong on the ball, final decision was sometimes found to be lacking (it will come and he will play for England)
Thomas: 5 - I'm pleased he got into many positions, that is half the battle but really needs to get one or two on target (just like McNulty-needs a goal to get him going)
Shipley: 4 - Nothing special
Andreu: 5- Needs to get more games under his belt, you can see he will be decent
JCH: 6 - I really like this lad and he will do well for us, he is a confidence player.
Bakayoko: 4 - Didn't get enough time on the ball for me to comment
Chaplin: 5 - Seemed keen enough, midfielders didn't pick up his runs. I liked his position without the ball, made himself available
Allassani: 5 - Didn't get enough time on the ball for me to comment

So Grimmer.. 'only his second game' 'needs time to build up fitness' etc etc.
Sterling.. 'shit' 'offers nothing' 'send him back'
City fan logic at force again

I have given me a day to reflect because yesterday I felt really pissed off, I think it was because of all the shots we had we couldn't hit the target, their keeper may as well sat in a deckchair enjoying the rays,
Burge 6 handled reasonably well had a moment of luck when attempting to clear and kicked it straight to their number 9 but it went harmlessly out of play
Grimmer 7 because of his first half display, well after his first 15 minutes
Mason 6.5 the kid showed some lovely feints and lost their man but crossing not too hot seems as though he lacks confidence going forward at times but this is mainly due to Doyle demanding the ball in unnecessary positions
Hyam 6.5 Marked down because of the goal but apart from that had a reasonable game although distribution could be better
Willis 8 although a tad unfit solid enough and for once didn't hoof it aimlessly
Doyle 4 had a poor game yesterday, got in the way of others and his passing at times was woeful, is it a league too much for him? last year he was immense this year sadly lacking atm
Bayliss 5 it didn't happen for him yesterday but I guess not knowing where he is playing from 1 week to the next don't really help
Shipley 4 maybe a couple of leagues too much for him
Thomas 6 but 0 for his shooting skills, maybe he is trying too much, he is rapid but I don't remember him going down the wing, he should have given their left back a torrid time but didn't
Andreu 3 looked unfit which is hardly surprising having a year out
JCH 5 cannot see him scoring many if these are his performances, he had chances and fluffed them

Chaplin 5 didn't really get into the game but his movement was quite positive just needs game time to gell
Bakayoko not going to score him, still not convinced with him but his confidence looks shot atm
Allesani...well he came on and if he had been a couple of feet higher maybe we could rate him but whats he going to do with balls flying over his head

Sorry I thought it was Grimmer’s 2nd league game must be mistaken! If you’ve played the game you’ll know there’s a massive difference between training and playing!

No, the miss in the first half. Thomas burst through and pulled it back to him, scuffed it.
JCH missed an easy header at the near post in the second half?

No ratings but some thoughts.

As last season, Grimmer gets forward but then has to get back to defend because nobody covers him. No wonder he is knackered.
If we expect our full backs to be wing backs, shouldn't we have 3 Central Defenders?
I'm not going to criticise Bayliss's performance or his work rate, but every game I have seen he's knackered by 70mins. I don't know if that is lack of fitness or because he doesn't pace the game. I was surprised he wasn't taken off. Don't think it was fair to leave him on.
I'm surprised at some of the positive ratings for JCH. I was very disappointed with his performance, and not just the missed chances.
We are still incapable of gaining anything from throw-ins
I was expecting some fireworks from Allassandri, but I think he gave away a foul every time he challenged for the ball. (Or at least the ref gave a foul: I couldn;t always see why)
I think people are being hard on Thomas because of missed chances. Callum Wilson was the same but he learned quickly, so let's give the lad a chance
Why do we need a target man? JCH and Bakayoko are not target men so stop hoofing the ball to them. When we had Armstrong, Murphy, Maddison and Lameiras buzzing around we didn't have a big target man. Learn to pass through the defence to runners. At our level most defenders can deal with high balls hit straight at them.

This is a reason why I think the argument of 'were you at the game?' doesn't always hold true. Where you're sitting in the stadium can make a massive difference on how you see a game. Years ago (HR days) I recorded a game we were playing on Sky while I was low down in the WT. I thought during that game at the time we'd played pretty well and had been unlucky but created decent chances. Watching it back later from the camera angle in fact we'd created virtually no decent chances at all. Like those trick angles that make you think a defender spooned the ball towards their own top corner when in fact they made a pretty decent clearance towards halfway.

You mean like when he jumped and got pushed mid air and didn't get a foul? When he had the ball at his feet he didn't give the ball away I don't think?

It's as if people make things up to be annoyed at him.
