Centre halves and the left back were sound. Rest a mix of ok and poor. Glad of the point.

Marosi: 8 - A couple of really good saves. Generally solid and reliable despite the odd wild kick (normally under pressure).

Dabo: 7 - A couple of good tackles and did try to get forward. Just lacking a bit of quality some times.

Mcfazdean: 8.5 - MOTM for me probably. Solid and a leader at the back.

Hyam: 8 - Another centre back that was pivotal in getting the point. Slightly edged by Mcfzdn but played very well indeed.

McCallum: 7 - Young lad doing his very best. Will be happy to have Mason back but cannot knock the lad too much. At times he looked well up to it.

Westbrooke: 6.5 - Mixed performance really. Wasn't too bad by any means, I think we just miss Kelly.

Walsh: 6.5 - Jekyll and Hyde today. Thought he was really good first half, second half he couldn't seem to do much right.

Shipley: 6.5 - Another midfielder who seemed to drift in and out. Actually thought he did some really good things first half.

Jobello: 5 - Seemed to get the ball a lot but just didn't look arsed at all. Could never see the slightest bit of urgency. Praise for the defensive work at times though.

Hiwula: 4.5 - Apart from one decent shot he just looked a passenger today. Seems to be a worrying trend. Perhaps he needs some time out.

Godden: 7 - Did what he could considering he was largely attacking on his own. Think he only really had one chance we could have expected better. Sure he'll smash it against Wimbledon.

Subs:

O'Hare: 7 - Starts next game for Hiwula if I was MR.

Kasteneer: 5 - Psycho. Should have buried that chance too.

Agreed O’Hare for Hiwula it’s time to give him a game or 2 out he isn’t offering enough at the moment

Hiwula had a period last season where he was dropped for a few games sometimes not even making it on the bench and then he came back in and scored in several back to back games. I agree that maybe give him a rest, OHare In for him is what I would do too.

Marosi 7
Scared me taking the striker on but just love the way he plays from the back looks so confident

Dabbo 7
Steady enough few little errors but good on ball

Mcfadzen & hyam 8
Solid as always

McCallum 7
Same as dabbo few little shakey moments but seems to be growing in to a perfect fit for us

Walsh 8
Played well makes it look easy could prove to be one of best signings this season

Shippers 7
Worked hard as he always does didn't get a lot of time on ball but he's in there to the doggys and he done that

Westbrooke 6
Just didn't click today looked tired second half maybe time to mix it up now with O'Hare coming on and doing well again

Hiwula 6
Same as westbrooke maybe tired just doesn't look as much of a threat as he did last season

Godden 6
Does what he does works hard linked up well just didn't get much service against a tough back 4

Jobello 6
Not a fan as of yet but can't fault his efforts just needs to realise English football defenders aren't as easy to beat as what he's used to

All in all WERE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Marosi 8 brilliant upgrade
Dabo 7 Solid performance
Mcfadz 9 outstanding play great signing
Hyam 8 showed why he should play ahead of rose
MCCallum 7 steady performance
Walsh 6 has talent but a bit of the mark today
Shipley 5 league 2 player far too many mistakes
Westbrook 6 improvement on last week
Godden 6 totally isolated lads still class
Jobello 6 good defensive work today
Hiwula 3 poor player needs dropping

Kastaneer 6 grew into the game can see the potential
Ohare 6 top class needs to replace hiwula

Marosi McFad and Hyam all 8, Dabo and Mcullum 7 Walsh 8 first half 6.5 second, Shipley 6 Westbrooke 6, Jobello 4 Hiwula 3 and Godden 7 .
A good game to watch end to end we had the better of the chances but a fair result in the end....top of the league...we are the team to beat

Love the description of Kastaneer!! Actually love the guy - to bring on someone with such high energy and who is so unpredictable makes the final quarter of games even more entertaining. Also loved the way he fronted up to their big defender who took out Godden late on - clearly a team player who will not take a backward step.

A few harshly written posts on Hiwula and Jobello. And I see what people are saying.
I've actually been a critic of Hiwula's for being highly consistent in drifting out of games.
To be fair though this season he's been called upon to do a lot more defensive work than before - and he was frequently in defensive positions today and working hard. I agree that we all want to see him causing damage at the other end of the pitch but I think we should give him credit for working harder in defence.
Jobello - you can see there's a player there. I thought he was ok today - I also think he has more defensive duties than he is used too. If only he could have some of Kastaneer's energy and attitude - we'd have quite the player.

We didn’t play with our usual dictating style today but most would’ve taken a draw which I think was a fair result.

Marosi 8
Full backs 7
Center backs 8
Westbrooke 7
Shipley 6.5
Walsh 6.5
Hiwula 5
Jobello 5
Godden 7

O’hare 8
Kastaneer 6

Thought back four were excellent as a unit. Hyam and mcfadzean looked calm and assured (think that might be first time playing together as a pair). Dabo is a rough little player...has a mistake in him but gives his all. McCallum left exposed a lot in first half (because Hiwula not tracking back) but had a very solid game and some great passes second half. He needs a rest Tuesday.
Marisol...gives confidence to those in front of him. Gives me kittens with the passing around and risk taking but he has got away with it...so far.
Shipley worked hard but still pulls out of 50/50s. Westbrooke tired second half. Walsh a good player but perhaps had too much to do. Overall midfield were second best for large parts of game.
Godden worked socks off to little effect...should have kept one shot down late on. Jobello and hiwula poor games...no threat and didn’t support their full back.

O’Hare is one second ahead in thought. A real talent. Want to see him start.

Big change this year is our ability to defend set-pieces. Centre backs and Marosi very solid, 7 each.

O'Hare carries us forward at pace or drifts into holes - excellent cameo's each week, 7 as well. Think people are being harsh on Jobello and Hiwula, asked to work hard tucking back in that limits their impact, yet both created today.

Thought the Burton number 8 Fraser and their 10 Akins, were very good players

Marosi - 7. Solid enough, think he needs to mix up the short passing with some long a little more often when it's not working.
Dabo - 6. Careless with the ball today, but can drive us up the pitch brilliantly.
McCallum - 6. Thought he struggled a little today physically, but he's only a kid really. Improved second half but looking in need of a rest.
Hyam - 8. Very solid, prefer to Rose I think.
McFadzean- 8. Good performance against his old team. Would like to see him in the ref's ear a bit more ala Doyler.
Westbrooke - 6. Not bad, but apart from a cracking strike which hit the post not that good either. Would drop on Tuesday for O'Hare.
Shipley - 6. Worked hard and won more tackles than normal, could have worked the keeper more though.
Walsh - 6. Bit anonymous today at times but clearly got some ability.
Jobello - 6. Started the first half brilliantly, then disappeared. Better going backwards today, and some good deliveries.
Hiwula - 6. Thought he looked the most likely scorer today, second half especially, but again disappeared too often.
Godden - 7. Worked hard and linked play up well. No real chances.

O'Hare. 7. Went past Godden regularly which pushed them back 10 yards nearer the end.

Kastaneer - 6. Looked dangerous but he's a bit unpredictable. I'd give him a start on Tuesday in place of Jobello.

strange how people see different things in games. I thought westbrooke and mccallum were excellent today, Jobello awful yet most have marked them similarly. I'd have left Westbrooke on and taken Jobello off to start with but we're top of the table so can't complain.
Marosi 7 not much to do but did what he had to.
Mccallum 8 Stood up well to Akins who made a point of trying to target him.
Dabo 6.5 did ok but a few sloppy passes
Mcfadz and Hyam 8 Solid partnership
Shipley 7 good movement and used the ball well
Westbrooke 8 Kept us ticking and probed the opposition
Jobello 5 poordecision making. I'm sure theres a player in there but haven't seen much of one so far
Walsh 6.5 did ok
Hiwula 6 looked ok at times but no this best game
Godden 7 worked hard up front and linked well with others

subs
Kasteneer 7 did better than Jobello
O'hare 7 kept our tempo up and linked well with others.

That’s a travesty; certainly not one of godden’s better games but he received little or no service from those out wide and little meaningful support until O’Hare came on. He was well marshalled by the burton defence but unless we have players prepared to get beyond him that will always be the case.

Disagree entirely. Walsh controls a game eith ease. Shipley constantly misplaces passes and rarely tackles

I thought Walsh was brilliant first half and then faded badly in the 2nd, which I suspect was a combination of lack of match fitness in what was a very intense game, and his earlyish yellow card.

Man of the Match for me was Hyam, closely followed by McFadzean.
Walsh was fantastic 1st first half, but was less effective & faded a little in the 2nd. Be interesting to see what Robins does when Kelly is fit. Barring a catalogue of injuries or a change of formation I don't see them playing in the same team. Walsh offers so much more to the attacking side, but is not as defensively disciplined as Kelly. On the positive side its nice to have the problem of fitting in too many good players than the opposite.
With regard to the wide players I'm not too worried about Jobello. There is definitely a player there and I think some of our fans should ease off him a little, and recognise he might need a bit of patience in settling into playing in British football and living in a foreign environment. Hiwula was once again fairly disappointing, but I think he is just not the type of player to impose himself and will continually drift in and out, often frustrating. For all his 12 goals last season, that was pretty much what he provided then. Unless he picks things up soon though, I can definitely see O'Hara replacing him.

Great post Legia and agree with a lot of this. I do possibly see Kelly and Walsh playing together in a dream midfield 3 with Allen. Barcelona style. Or alternatively Kelly and Walsh with O'Hare as the attacking midfielder would be very exciting. Not automatically sure about O'Hare replacing one of the 'wingers' as I would like to have him in a free role/Bright style number 10. But as you say - what a great problem to have for once.

iFollowed:

Marosi 7 - couple of good saves and calm effective distribution when under pressure
Dabo 6 - struggled with their pace and trickery at times
McFadzean 8 - a rock at the back and generally looked good with the ball
Hyam 7 - worked well with McFadzean
McCallum 6 - see Dabo
Walsh 6 - 7 in 1st half, 5 in 2nd half when he appeared to tire
Shipley 5 - got through a lot of work, but not his best game
Westbrook 5 - another who sometimes struggled with the pace
Godden 6 - isolated, but never stopped running
Jobello 6 - had a better game, but needs to attack with more urgency and conviction
Hiwula 5 - slow reactions and poor first touch are letting him down

Kastaneer 6 - the proverbial curates egg, but I like his energy and strength - hopefully he can be coached (or should that be poached?), to be more disciplined
O'Hare 7 - took a while to get into the game, but once he settled, he showed true class at times

I think that you've highlighted the differences between Walsh and Kelly shows that they could play in the same team - Kelly sitting a bit deeper, Walsh a bit higher up, possibly taking Westbrooke's role. Whether that will be an option depends on how long Kelly is out for.

With O'Hare and hopefully Allen also vying to come in probably as the most forward thinking of the midfield three we've got a very exciting midfield. To be top when people may well argue two of our three centre midfielders are the 4th and 5th choices is hugely impressive.
