Dabo 6 - got forward well but his final ball is no good 9/10
Maatsen 6 - similar to Dabo
Hyam 5 - gave another goal away
McFadz 6 - got lucky with the CKR chance that hit the post
JCS 7 - the best of the 3 with and without the ball
Sheaf 7 - involved in most of our good play
Hamer 7 - needs to shoot more
O'Hare 7 - the key to everything we do not needs protection
Godden 7 - did ok but no understanding with Gyok
Gyokeres 6 - just doesn't look quite as sharp as he did pre Blackburn, should have rested him from the start and brought him on

Subs
Kelly 4 - just too deep, no impact on the game and looks very much like the pace of championship football is beyond him
Walker 5 - made a hash of two simple through balls that might have given us a chance, then inexplicably tried to play a one two in the box in the last minute of injury time rather than turn and shoot, frustrating

JCS probably the pick. Hamer also was decent. Dabo's decision making was awful and O'Hare needs to look like he'd like to score the odd goal! Negative substitution killed us. It was like last years set up when Kelly came on. 7 men behind the ball. Sat far too deep and invited pressure.

Hamer was very average. People big tbe guy up as being someone premier league clubs would look at. He’s morphing into the next Michael Doyle. He was really not at the races in the second half - he’s declined massively since his first 6 months here

Thought godden was having a good game until we lost the ability to hold the ball up .
Sheaf and hamer excellent first half .

He’s stopped shooting which is strange as he’s shown he’s capable. Had 2 or 3 chances today

We certainly didn’t learn anything from Preston again we sat back invited them on to us which to be fair we are very poor at.
Subs made us worse Kelly sat far too deep pushing the back 3 further back. Why didn’t we use similar tactics to the first half when we looked far superior? In the end lucky to get a point. Is McFadzean shit scarred of Richard’s two seasons on the trot Richards ripped him to pieces?

A tough week no doubt for City. Looked very comfortable in first half without creating much. Second half a bit perplexing what happened and City were just holding on .
I agree with others JCS had a very good match.
3 games in a week for me too.

This is spot on. Would go for Sheaf and JCS possibly even 8s. JCS was absolutely superb and my MOTM.

Moore 6 - their goal went through him. 8 times out of 10 he might have blocked it. Unsighted by our defender maybe.

Dabo 7 - I rate him but took a bit long in whipping the ball over on occasion, particularly after Gyok went off.

Maatsen 6 - better than last time out, deserved his booking with a rash challenge (can’t remember who’s pass to him was culpable). Dived in on one later in the game. Some refs would have booked him again. He needs to get to grips with that.

Hyam 6 - bad pass at the root of their goal. Passes it out well and has good positional sense. Not his best game.

McFadz 6 - slow today and got wrong sided a couple of times. Can’t help but think that when we are under pressure he should go down with a cramp, get 2 mins rest, gather his defence together and take stock. Regroup. Leadership shithousery 101.

JCS 7 - played well. Not far off MOTM for me. Got things moving forward and did his job.

Sheaf 6 - RIGHT. Some good touches. Couple of neat flicks and backheals. He has some quality. Still had a few missed passes and there was a foul near the edge of the box that he gave away plus a handball where he flapped his arm at it after it hit him. Doesn’t seem to come hunting for the ball, change direction, passes side wards then there’s a forward option. There are some perfectly rational posters on here that see things differently and rate him - I just don’t see it. Sorry.

Hamer 7 - A few lovely touches and passes. People say he’s gone downhill - maybe. I think he’s being asked to play a role that isn’t quite him. He needs a bruiser general centre midfielder next to him so he can put his foot on the ball and look up. Sheaf needs to get to KFC and the Dojo or we sign a bruiser.

O'Hare 7 - Duracell want their bunny back but one if these days he’s gonna get snapped unless the refs do something. MR needs to email the refs club or whatever and tell them to keep an eye out.

Godden 7 - he’s great alongside a big target man. Didn’t bend his runs a couple of times and got caught offside. Watch the game back, he’s not great back-to-goal and that’s why I say he needs to run on to the flicks and headers of a TM. He and Walker try the same runs.

Gyokeres 6 - off day but still the best striker and creator on the pitch for 60 mins. (7 until he got tired)

Subs
Kelly 5 - off the pace. I can see MR’s thinking but it didn’t pay off.

Walker 5 - up front with Godden and relying in side balls from wing? Not his gravy. He does better with an attacking mid sliding through the middle or that mid charging through and shooting so he can pounce of loose balls. Can’t pick a pass for toffee and should have shot rather than passed a couple of times.

He had a good game today, when Kelly came on that changed things. He's not "morphing into the next Michael Doyle". He hasn't "declined massively". He should however shoot more often.

Gyokeres was the only person who Derby were interested in, but he was clearly unfit today. Gave the ball away constantly. Maatsen is the clear weak link in the team. None of the subs made us better today.

I thought we dropped off a little once Sheaf went off. He kept our passing tempo going and put some decent passes in. JCS motm as he won everything today.

I don't know why he only seems to go for it from free kicks these days

Yeah it's a bit strange considering his shooting seems to be a relative strength in his game. Seems like he'd always rather lay off to someone else when in a decent position himself.

Looking at the shooting practice he's still got a hell of a strike on him compared to most of the others. The dip he got onto his free kick today was impressive as well. Can only think he's been told to rein it in along with the rest who always look for the pass when in a good position to shoot.

Personally would like to see that part of his game return, it adds another threat and a bit of unpredictability

Same, it seems to be one of his strengths. It's almost like we're always looking to play it into the penalty area and still get a clear sight of goal before shooting.

Dabo - I’m a big fan, but he looked a yard slower today and his cross delivery especially in the 1st half was poor.
