The difference was though, Don, a few weeks ago, we were only going on what we knew about what the players have done in the past. On paper we have a really strong squad, but for some reason they're only showing glimpses of that and at this stage, we can all see that it's going to take a lot of work for them all to live up to their potential. Fortunately we have a Manager who seems willing to think outside the box to motivate and encourage. Every single one of us throught differently about the squad in August to how we see them now.

I think on paper they are good enough.

I will be intrigued to see what he does with hussey.

That will be a good example of his motivational skills.

We are playing a right back at left back at the moment. Can he improve hussey can he get him going now to make us better as a team.

That will show very good management.

However I don't think robins thinks like that. I think he has possibly written these lot off. He may want to clear out and start again.

If that is the case he will suceed but next season not this one.

Hussey will be gone in Jan. The fact he prefers to play a right back at left back ahead of Reckord who is ahead of Hussey tells me he has no future under robins.

Unfortunately, if Facebook is anything to go by, I think he prefers partying. You'd have thought that coming up from AFC Wimbledon he would appreciate what he has here, but that seems to not be the case

I've just been a geek and looked at the Bournemouth team sheets, of the 22 players Howe has used only 5 were there when he was manager, and only 2 have started a game for him (Pugh and Arter). The other 13 who have started for him (9 are regulars) were all signed after he left.

Oh FFS, what I meant was. He's like Daglish to Liverpool. Always been connected with the club. The reason why theres only 5, is because he took 3 or 4 to Burnley! still, to have 5 plus your 3 or 4 that left with you, and played for you at another club, shows what loyalty Bournemouth have to him and the same the other way

We also assumed squads in this division were poorer in quality than the sources we were getting our players from (Scots Premier, French leagues, Greek League) and we also assumed the two loaness would be of quality - especially as we obtained Norwood last season and the impact he had.

The Scottish Premier is clearly abject in quality, one French defender played in a league probably below our Blue Square Premier, the other player is agricultural and the two loans are sub standard.

Looking at Scunthorpe yesterday I would gladly swap some of our players for theirs and they are one of the poorer sides.

I also hoped (but had doubts) that McDonald would perform in this league. He won't - he is poor.

I fell into the same trap as others in that I assumed the players signed would be identified as fit for purpose in the league. We signed very poorly and did not do enough backromm research into identifying what was needed.

We had the budget and we blew it big time.

How does it? He took the 3 or 4 with him because he felt they could better themselves in the championship (both in football terms and financially) and do a job for him, just like Rodgers took Allen to Liverpool. The point is the majority of the squad didn't know him and never played for him before, the vast majority of the starting 11 were signed this season. Anyway that wasn't really my point.

My point is we either have a poor squad or a poor manager.

There are a number of posters adamant that we have one of the best squads on paper. If the squad are that good and are promotion/top 6 standard we should have kicked on more than we have. The points gap between us and 6th has increased by 4 points the the 10 games Robins has been in charge. If the players don't fit the way he wants to play, he should be moulding the play/tactics to suit the squad. Do some players not want to play for him? Is that bad man management? Can't he motivate them? Inspire them? , etc

Me, well I thought the players we brought in were the wrong types and blend of players to mount a promotion push, I looked at PNE last season who finished 15 with a similar bunch of players and thought mid table would be an achievement. I'm not anti Robins and he needs time to shift 90% of the squad and start again.

But if people are adamant that this squad is a top quality league one squad, then Robins must be a poor manager. Which is it poor manager or poor squad?

The players are poor. Unfortunately they are going nowhere as no one will want them.

Hibs can't keep buying all of our dross.

There is a fine line bewteen success and failure. the width of a post, a bad referee decision but overall that happens to everyone. What you can be certain of is what you see in front of you. What assessment do you make of the team? My assessment is that we look bloody awful at times and make no mistake other teams are even worse too. We have a few questionable players at the moment but overall our squad is half decent at this level, MR said so himself. They are getting something wrong and when the solution is found (and it will) they will improve as a team. Other teams in this league are over achieving and their bottom is going to fall out (like Walsall?) I can't see us getting worse but getting better. We have won a few ugly and been awful but it's mixed with some flashes of good stuff, many times taking the lead. Take Swindon as an example. You can't extrapolate results and say we can't make the play offs. I'm certain we can in this league from our position but is provided we can fix the problem our players seem to have and in MR I trust that will happen.

You seem to still maintain the squad is good enough for promotion and without "those 5 games" and a change of manager we would be promotion candidates.

There is a slight issue with that - the players are rubbish.

Not that rubbish, bring on the play offs.

I am a bit worried that we are only competing for 6th. 5th and above are too far ahead.

How about realistic? The teams around us are more than likely going to get at least 3 points from their games in hand.

We are in a great position and if you said this 3 months ago you would have laughed. However the teams around us have games in hand and they will pick up points so the playoffs is still a chance but a long chance. We need to keep up our form and im not convinced we will, but I may be suprised. I not being negative, just realistic.
