What’s going on with people invading the pitch at play off games like they’ve just won the league title and abusing players and managers.
Also the Everton fan abusing Viera one of the best midfielders to grace English football and calling him a muppet when Everton had secured survival with just one game to go demonstrates the mentality of people these days.

It's some weird mass hysteria that's happened since covid. Almost like releasing animals from a cage. It's a weird thing and seems to only affect morons.

I get people going mad if you've won the league or been promoted but Everton last night was embarrassing. People just need to stay off the pitch, its not hard, there's people even sending their kids on now.

We'll end up behind fences again the way things are going.

Oh, not to mention the people at our games who lift their kids on to run on and then run off and then swear at any steward who goes near them.

Has happened for years since fencing has come down. Don’t now how it can be stopped when fans come on from all angles of the ground. Was obvious once Everton got that late winner they would come on.

We’ve invaded the pitch to celebrate avoiding relegation several times. I don’t hate it.

Running on before the game is over is another story - that’s just dumb as fuck.

Our fans went on the pitch when we beat Wycombe in the semi-final to get to Wembley in that Mickey Mouse cup

Inevitable.
Still, it's all a bit of a laugh to some.

Best way forward is PL ,EFL and FA to make a statement that home clubs are responsible for crowd control. Give notice that any pitch invasion will result in next home game will be played in empty stadium. On a second offnce points deduction and 3 matches to be played behind closed doors. Obviously the home clubs have to then make sure fans are segregated to make sure they can control visiting fans.

Just one simple request to let the players and officials leave the pitch before running on. It’s not hard, it’s not complicated, and people still get their moment of celebration.

At our ground the only way I can see it being stopped is to not sell the first couple of rows of seats and put netting there not ideal but should be easier to control

Exactly. I’ve got no issue with pitch invasions to celebrate. However to do it to abuse and attack players is a disgrace. Once again, the few will end up ruining it for all unless the authorities nip it in the bud

Just asking people to wait 5 minutes isn’t much. Perhaps if the club gets their result tossed it would focus minds

Everton fan deserved it, total lack of respect, hopefully he'll be charged and not Vieira. It was hardly an assault just a kick out from Vieira as some people are making out.

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned pitch invasion....love it.

Everything wrong with being a cowardly c**t attacking players or screaming abuse and sticking phones in managers faces.

They do that because they think that as soon as they get touched they will run to the papers as the victim.

It isn't inevitable really, that's a totally disproportionate threat

I say it's inevitable as it's already happened in the National League, the National League North Final has a reduced capacity due to crowd trouble at York. How else do you propose they deal with it?

I don't remember it being this frequent and assaulting coaches and players.

I think we'll see clubs compelled to introduce something similar to what they've got at Wembley, which won't be cheap.

What do they have at Wembley? That stadium is hardly the international gold standard in crowd control!

It's like 5 or 6 wires running round the perimeter which are difficult to get over but it can all be collapsed in an emergency.

Punish the offenders (which they are doing through the courts) not everybody else

Every single person that entered the pitch committed a criminal offence.

Punishing the (most egregious) offenders at Forest didn't seem to dissuade people from doing the same thing at Everton last night.

While of course it's perfectly fair to not punish or inconvenience the vast majority of fans who do nothing wrong, it's not going to change the current mindset in a hurry.

The Forest headbutter should be planning a trip to Wembley next week but he's in jail for head butting a player on TV.
Not sure how you mitigate for that sort of mindset.

It's not exactly a spontaneous outpouring of emotion if you sit politely in your seat for five minutes before hurtling on.
