One from school was “cream in” which meant you were trying to become mates with someone. Then if someone was being a twat you’d say “cream out”

All to do with phones:
"Put yer 3d in the phone box on the table!" When asking mum if I could use the house phone.
"Nip down to the phone box on the corner and call (insert name)".
"It's engaged! It must be next door using the party line!"
Probably loads more!

From my nan: “give us three pips when you get home” meaning ring the house phone and hang up after three rings and she’ll take it as a signal we’re home safe.

Electric or telly?
We had our telly from DF Gibbs, next door but one to the General Wolfe pub! A shilling in the meter at the back gave about a couple of hours viewing!

We used to have Corona delivered but then my parents economised by having us go to the off-licence to pick up our pop. it was called R. Whites.
It was a good idea on their part because it was a couple of miles away and so heavy, we couldn't carry much.

Both my mum and dad were big smokers (killed them in the end!), but always remember their discussions about which ciggies to smoke. Both Embassy and Kensitas had a gift catalogue which they would pore over to see which were the best coupons to collect. How strange to think now that then you were rewarded to smoke!

So did mine. "Yer dad's gone bloody yampee " I'd completely forgotten about that. I bet that's almost completely died out now.
