Great player, he still has another tournament in him but what better way to retire then after the world cup.

It's got to the stage where he's absolutely miles ahead of any other full back atm, he's both the best right back and the best left back in the world. He had the chance to get an absolutely enormous number of caps but captaining a world cup win isn't a bad way to bow out.

top top player and a great way to end his international career. At least he knows when to step back unlike some of our guys!

Great player and if your gonna Bow out, you may aswell do it after winning the World Cup.

That said, I don't agree with players 'retiring' from international call ups. Should be an honour to be asked.

But in his case, I suppose he has played 100+ games so it's a bit more acceptable
