First time poster and felt the time was right to wade in with some ideas…. this may have been discussed previously (and at length) but felt it was worthwhile raising given recent events.
I think the focus of the takeover strategy needs to change and the fan’s need to come up with some solutions and act upon these ideas. First of all we need a framework (initial ideas) to work with then go into the specifics once the unworkable ideas have been eliminated.
Here are my first thoughts:
- Fans and local businesses to contribute financially to a take-over. This could be coordinated by the SBT and contributions are to be refundable should the take-over not be successful. Should the takeover be successful then consider either shares in the club, free tickets, discounted corporate sponsorship etc.
- Season ticket regulars to contribute season ticket fees to the take-over in return for guaranteed season ticket upon return to Ricoh (plus one game in executive box maybe) or fully refundable in the event of take-over not being successful.
- With the Godiva festival attracting thousands this weekend the SBT should canvas for support for the take-over and ask residents and local business owners (via simple questionnaire) to see whether they would support a take-over and if so how much they would be willing to contribute (refundable amount). No need to collect money at this point, just names, email addresses and likely amount which would be invested.
- SBT to work with Hoffman and Elliott to drum up support for more wealthy investors (local companies or otherwise) to collaborate with the fans.
- No money should really be collected until all avenues have been fully explored and the likely investment amount has been validated as being sufficient to move forward with a strong possibility of achieving a take-over.
Only ideas for now, but feel free to contribute your thoughts and I’m happy to collate and share with interested parties. I’ll email the SBT (even though there will be members on here) to see if they can get something sorted for tomorrow (if they haven’t done so already) and happy to work with everyone to move this forward.
Please don’t go into the specifics on advantages/disadvantages of options for now, try to limit this to ideas at this point.
One final point…. let’s not start to reenact a popular Monty Python (Life of Brian) sketch by bickering amongst ourselves, because at the end of the day we have one goal…. to support CCFC
Cheers
