Trans activists are fucking mental and vicious, companies just find it easier to capitulate. It’s going to lead to a backlash against normal trans people who just want to live their lives.

Tony Blair pushing for 50% uni attendance has a lot to answer for. People didn’t get smarter and science didn’t get easier so now we’re overloaded with gender studies grads.

I was going to add this to the things that annoy you thread, but I thought the spectacular lunacy involved merited it's own thread.

(Just to be clear, haven't got an issue with LGBT people)

It’s not about trans people, it’s about a specific postmodernist ideology that’s come fully formed out of uni departments and well meaning businesses and politicians have backed unthinkingly for a bit of rainbow wash. Unbelievable it’s been the Tories who tried to put this crap into law. Misogynistic nonsense that goes against everything second wave feminists like my mum fought for.

That's what I meant by saying I have no problem with LGBT people. I know this thing about sanitary towels is a separate thing entirely, like you say probably caused by uni's.

The rest of society is bowing down to a vocal minority. They're doing more harm then good.

Even more bizarre, they have banned urinals in Portland to make toilets more 'inclusive' for trans people.

Mens Razor Blades. Why only show men shaving their beard. Women can grow them too!

Also, only babies can wear nappies??? I don't think so!

*at 26 I still can't grow a proper beard, so this is actually a sensitive subject and I need a safe space :joyful:

All 3 major parties seem to be saying the same thing on the matter but I feel the Tories are trying to kick the can a little further down the road without actually committing to anything concrete.

If you’re anything like me and it sounds like you are) by the time you can grow a full beard it will be grey. That’s how it’s panned out for me and in truth the moustache is still detached from the beard and I’m turning 47 in a couple of months. I’m hoping to live long enough to see them join.

Not surprised. All of the west coast is ultra trans. Can’t even discuss/debate it properly. I was talking to someone about concerns of pre pubescent children making the decision (concern being that adults could coerce)...let’s just say the discussion didn’t end well and I left the bar

Ps added to my list of never to discuss topics with randoms

Tories started it all with the GRA reforms. Thought it’d be another gay marriage, easy points. Wasn’t until groups made up of socialist labour activists and female journalists both left and right kicked off that they pushed it into the long grass.

Don’t get me wrong, Corbyn is all in for the woke bollocks, even gave his pronouns at a speech the other day, and Labour now are full of social justice activists pushing this crap and getting members kicked out the party for “transphobia” for not agreeing. Lib Dem’s are worse, taking in Aimee Challenor after she was kicked out and being aggressive on twitter towards women who disagree. Labour at least are mostly silent rather than actively attacking people publicly.

SNP and the Communist Party weirdly have seemingly been the most sensible on this. The Morning Star have actually been excellent and SNP people like Joan McAlpine and others have been vocal as well. Other than your standard social conservatives like Philip Davies but he’s a broken clock.

It’s also why I have some sympathy (not much) for those Muslim parents protesting the No Outsiders program which is full of this crap. It’s a political position and we shouldn’t be teaching it as fact to kids.

Portland is batshit capital for this stuff. All those mental Antifa videos come from there as well. Fuck knows what’s happened there but it’s a very very weird place.

I'm not sure what's going on with the GRA reforms. The public consultation finished what must have been 12 months back and as far as I'm aware the conclusions have yet to be released. I agree that the Tories probably thought it was an easy win until a little bit more thought was given to the subject by others.

Was Aimee kicked out of the Greens? I know they were suspended but I think they left of their own accord and the subsequent inquest was fudged by the party. Why Lib Dems thought getting Aimee on board was a good idea is anyone's guess. I see Aimee is also associated with Stonewall which is taking a mighty kicking at the moment too.

Parents have no rights these days.

My little girl came home upset when she was 9. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to have children when older as she could be gay. She was also worried she might end up being a boy. Once I calmed her down it was because of what was said in class. I don't mind the children being taught on the subject. But at 8 and 9?

Yes you’re right about Aimee, my mistake. She jumped before she was pushed.

Last I heard Truss had kicked GRA into the long grass. Nothing concrete just rumours: Crucial reforms to allow trans people to self-identify allegedly delayed by UK equalities minister Liz Truss

Eh. My eldest is 9, her uncle is gay, it’s no big deal. My 4 year old the other day was incredulous about “girls marrying girls” and the 9 year old just went “of course they can, why wouldn’t they be able to” and that was that.

Gay and trans people exist and deserve respect and the state should play a part in setting that expectation. However teaching things as fact that aren’t is a line no school should cross. Same as I wouldn’t agree with teaching gay people are born that way because we don’t know they are, we shouldn’t teach you can literally change sex because you can’t.

Gay rights activists in the 80s were smart enough to make it a rights issue not a science issue: it doesn’t matter WHY someone is gay, just that they are and that’s OK and they deserve respect. If you hang it on “oh they’re born that way and can’t help it” then you risk new science disproving that and taking their rights with them.

I think this is the issue in many cases - gender, race, faith etc. Most people accept diversity and don't have an issue...until these kind of daft protests or cries for change surface. In my workplace, virutally everybody has been treating everybody else as equals for years. People aren't tolerated if they're idiots at their jobs, not because of the big 3 issues. However, since our HR launched a "diversity and inclusion" dept., things are getting more resentful. Balmy ideas being cooked up, and problems are being created where none existed. The do goodrs are doing more harm than good.

Teaching right now is a minefield in this area. No one wants to upset/offend a child... but they have questions because it’s confusing for them as individuals but also how this is presented in society. Where to even start with some of it.

Tolerance and respect should be givens, but even this doesn’t seem to be good enough.

Why don't people just let kids be kids and enjoy their childhood? When they are old enough to understand and know whether they are gay or not, then leave them to it. I just don't get all this "I identify as...." shit. If you've got a cock, you're male and if you've got a fanny, you're female. It don't matter if you like the same as what you've got. That's what being gay is all about, ain't it? I've known both male and female gays and had a great friendship with them as really good friends. They certainly know how to have a laugh and enjoy themselves! They have never said anything to me about being different because they're not. Christ knows where all this "I identify as... " shit started!
