Had a pacemaker fitted yesterday at the Norfolk & Norwich hospital. It was due to my heart slowly getting worse through atrial fibrillation over a number of years. Procedure was about 2 hours and slightly uncomfortable but not painful.
Not sure what to expect in terms of improved health going forward so, if anybody on here has had one, please feel free to give me some advice... good or otherwise.
Thanks lads and lasses.

My Dad had one years ago and it didn't seem to make any noticeable change to his lifestyle. All seemed pretty routine, in and out quickly and then just an occasional check up.

Hopefully you'll pretty quickly stop noticing its there and be able to crack on as normal.

Wishing you well with your recovery TGE. If you are ever heading into Norwich I'd be happy to meet you for a pint/cuppa/can of Irn Bru and a chin wag about all things sky blue.

What were your AF symptoms like?
Not particularly good. I'd be refused an hgv licence if I was to apply for one.
I was down for 3 wires to be fitted to my ticker but only 2 were actually put in place due to the AF. The technician explained it to me as he was carrying out the procedure and I didnt take on board the reason. I'll be seeing the consultant in March so I'll get the full explanation then.
