MVE was exposed today and that’s probably because BTA was ahead of him and not giving the cover Tatsu does.

No, it’s because MVE has very little positional discipline. Good going forward. Poor defensively.

He was absolutely stranded by BTA and I’m not blaming him he is a striker not a right winger but many times BTA was even in the box so MVE was totally exposed at times so 100% not always his fault.

People never learn. Comments about Lampard being useless, the defence being shit, the subs are a waste of space, promotion is out of the window. The first half was as good as I’ve seen us for years. Last week we won by 6 goals. We’re in the top 5 after 4 games. Maybe we should just wait a bit longer before we make emotional statements about the state of things. We’re in a better position, as a club, than we have been for years. Enjoy it and accept that sometimes we’ll have a bad spell in a game. People sound like spoilt Arsenal fans demanding ‘signings’.

Hadn't read the thread, and I had to watch the replay due to other social commitments yesterday.

An entertaining game, we looked sharp. Seems two dumb fouls led to goals from free kicks for them. Who mentioned to the press that they would easily sort out their free kick defenses during mid week??

Torp's goal was wow.

Their second was also impressive. I'd hafta watch the highlights again, but I recall the kicker moving the ball about a foot to the right before curling it around the wall to the near post. Oh well.

I'm confident for the start of the season.

Glad to see Saka getting a few minutes. Cannot wait for him back in action.

It was a frustrating draw.

First half, in my view, we were better yesterday than v QPR. We moved the ball with such confidence and everything was slick only to be pegged back by an avoidable goal.

Second half, we lost control and struggled to settle in.

I’ve said once and won’t be the last time… Our depth is problem. We don’t have good personnel to come on and change games from the bench. Ideally, you’d want to change both wingers, a creative CM/AM and a striker if you need to turn a game around. Haji played well but BTA and EMC dropped off in the second half.

Sakamoto had a bright cameo but wouldn’t blame Lampard for leaving that sub till late if it risked an injury to him.

Agree with this. Yesterday was crying out for a different 8 and set of wingers and all we had was Sheaf and Allen and Sakamoto and Rapha and Saka aside you’re not confident any will impact a game going forwards. Even just one more AM/winger type on loan would give us so much more in terms of options during a game.

Well it won't be done on Monday, Grimes said in his interview after the game, they have a few days off because of the international break.

I need to rewatch the goals, particularly the 2nd but gut feeling is that Rushworth is getting blamed harshly.

For the first goal, perhaps could’ve parried it differently. That said, the ball did swerve a bit.

The coaches need to sort out the players on the freekick situation cos that is 2 games now where the taker has moved the ball to create an advantage! If a player close on hand sees it they should move in and close the space down which will make the Referee stop the kick.
