A good bump. Does anyone really think Simms or BTA would take over from Wright as a lone striker and get anywhere near his 75 minutes per goal so far?
BTA has been a revelation so far playing in other positions. He has struck up a good relationship with Wright. His pace and determination has been pulling our opponents apart. Even his defending has been good. If Wright got injured I would still want BTA in his present roles. He has never scored lots of goals. He isn't a lone striker. He needs someone to play with.
So that would leave us with Simms up front. The closer to the goal he is the more he scores. But last season we scored the most headed goals in the top divisions in Europe. Wright was out injured or was struggling for most of the season. Even then Simms wasn't scoring enough and you would think he had the perfect build for it. He also isn't going to run past players like a lone striker needs to be able to.
I wish we could all learn that players come in and out of form at this level, it's so hard for anyone not getting regular game time to show what they can do.

Different players have different strengths. If you don't play to their strengths you won't get the best out of them.
Lampard has been great for us for putting round pegs in round holes. It's quite simple. BTA isn't a lone striker. Wright would look poor if given the job that BTA has done so far this season. But the pair of them together doing the roles they have? They complement each other. BTA pulls the defences apart leaving space for Wright. When BTA releases the ball they try to get back into shape. BTA is then given space to find a good position to score. Very similar to the way Torp has been playing.
